Archolia Chapter 7 – The Physician
Bloodletter Gavin walks over to the stream in search of leeches.
He is pleased at the abundance of free resources here in Archolia. In his old village, leeches would have been an additional expense.
He catches a particularly plump leech. “This will do well in healing the sick and weary,” he says pleased with his find.
Gavin finds a few more leeches to add to his collection.
Beside the stream, he discovers herbs which should prove helpful in creating healing tonics.
He walks to the other side of the stream and cannot resist grabbing a few more leeches.
“Now for dinner,” he says, pulling out his fishing pole.
“Ah, fresh fish!” Gavin says admiring his prize.
Gavin sets off for the clinic. The view on the way is breathtaking. “The Watcher be praised!” He says to himself.
Back at the clinic, Nurse Jolene updates him on the progress of his patients. Two of them appear to be getting worse.
“What of the apothecary that you set out to see?” Nurse Jolene asks, “Did she have a cure?”
“I believe her to be a scammer. I cannot trust such questionable remedies. I shall come up with something on my own.”
Bloodletter Gavin takes another quick look at the suffering villager and sighs,” I shall have to research these symptoms. Please come back to see me tomorrow.”
The symptoms of these villagers are quite bothersome. Gavin feels tense and is in need of a drink.
But first he heads upstairs to his sleeping quarters. “Fresh fish stew will do me well,” he says.
Gavin prepares the stew adding fish and a few of the herbs that he found near the stream. This stew will satisfy part of his hunger, but he knows that there’s another part that only a sweet beverage can fulfill.
Gavin eats his stew and decides that a visit to the castle is in order.
