Mitzi: So did you take care of whatever you had to do at home?
Raymond: Yeah… just grabbing a change of clothes and stuff.
Mitzi: So you plan on staying over for a little while?
Raymond: If you want me here…
Mitzi: Of course I do Ray, and I’m not trying to bring it up again…but I don’t see the difference in you staying over and just officially moving in.
Raymond: There’s a difference to me.
Although they leave it unsaid, both Mitzi and Ray decide to just drop the subject for the moment.
Mitzi leaves for work, but Ray has the night off… so he spends time watching the cooking channel for inspiration.
Ray takes a quick nap before preparing a very nice tilapia and veggie dinner. He uses the rest of his time to plant a few seeds in the empty pots on Mitzi’s porch and sits to wait for her to come home from work.
A few minutes later, Mitzi arrives home from work looking extremely dejected.
Raymond: You okay Mitz?
Mitzi: *melancholy tone* I’m okay…
Raymond: You’re obviously not okay… what happened?
Mitzi: I had another horrible set tonight. *deep sigh* Sometimes I don’t even know why I try!
Raymond: Babe… it’ll be okay!
Mitzi: No… I don’t think I can get past this one. My career is over!
Raymond: Did you get fired?
Mitzi: No
Raymond: Then it’s not over!
Mitzi: I’m sorry Ray… you might as well know now. I’ve had this problem since I was a child…it’s like I have this dark cloud following me and sometimes I just can’t shake it.
Raymond: You mean depression?
Mitzi: *nods* I… I just don’t know what to do about it. But…I’m glad you found out early… if you decide that it’s something you can’t deal with…I…I understand. I’ll probably have days like this for the rest of my life.
Ray hurries into the house and returns with his hand behind his back.
Raymond: I was saving this for later, but what better time to give it to you than now…
Raymond pulls out a single long stem rose.
Raymond: Babe… don’t you know, I’m in this for the long haul… depression or not.
Mitzi: *face lights up* Awww, Ray! That’s so sweet!
Suddenly Ray grabs Mitzi and dips her as if they are dancing.
Mitzi: Ray! Please don’t let me fall!!
Raymond: I don’t intend to… ever.
Ray lowers himself and kisses Mitzi. Mitzi suddenly feels safe and secure in his strong arms. She relaxes completely before Ray stands her back up in one smooth motion without removing his lips from hers.
Raymond: *seductive tone* I think I have a remedy for that depression… at least for tonight.
Mizi: And what is that?
Raymond: Follow me…
Mitzi follows as Ray leads her back into the house and into the bedroom.
Mitzi is surprised that she’s all smiles as they slide under the covers.
Raymond: You’re smiling already?! But, I haven’t even worked my magic yet.
Mitzi: Your magic?
Ray doesn’t respond… instead, he slides even deeper under the covers until he disappears.
Mitzi: Ray? Where are you going? … Oh!
Mitzi suddenly doesn’t even remember what she was upset about.
Ray and Mitzi are all smiles…
