It’s Mitzi’s birthday, but the day begins just like any other.
Gregory: Can I stay home from school today?
Raymond: And do what?
Gregory: keep you and momma company
Raymond: We are very capable of keeping ourselves company, but thank you very much. Eat so you can go to school!
Ray wants to give Mitzi a break from broken sinks and crying babies…
Raymond: Go put on your prettiest dress… I’m taking you out for your birthday!
Mitzi puts on a sexy little red dress and checks herself out in the mirror.
Mitzi: *thinks to herself* Not bad for a woman with three kids!
Ray has a little surprise for Mitzi.
Mitzi: Awww…. thanks babe!
Mitzi: Wow! That’s a lot of candles. I may have to stand up to blow those out.
Raymond: C’mon Mitz… you can do it!
Mitzi blows out her candles and ages up!
Mitzi: Oh no! I’m not ready yet!

Ray and Mitzi drop Kisha of at the babysitter. Then they arrive at their destination (which by the way, is right across the street from their house)… Top-Notch Comedy Club, where Mitzi had a very bad experience.
Mitzi: *surprised and afraid* Ray, this is where we’re going for my birthday?
Raymond: Yes Mitz… I thought it would be a good time to help you break away from your irrational fear of this place.
Mitzi: Well… I wouldn’t call it irrational-
Raymond: Are you going to be okay with this?
Mitzi: *hesitates* Uh… yeah. As long as I’m with you… I guess I am.
Mitzi walks into the comedy club slowly, as if she still expects to see dead bodies and urns all over the place.
Raymond: That’s it babe… just a few more steps!
Raymond: See, you did it! I’m proud of you Mitz!
Mitzi: With you, I feel like I can do anything.
Raymond: Well, that’s nice of you to say, but I have every confidence that you could have overcome this with or without me. Do you think you’re ready to do shows here again?
Mitzi: Maybe… I guess we’ll see.
