Waking up thinking about the loss of her father is just as difficult, for Kisha, as trying to go to sleep last night thinking about him.

Kisha drags herself to the kitchen and opens the refrigerator; surprised to see that her father left a ton of food there, as if he knew his time was near.

Kisha makes it a point to savor each bite of her father’s French Toast.  Once it’s all gone, she won’t get the opportunity to taste it again.  It’s a shame that no one bothered to learn his recipe.

Mitzi sleeps, but it isn’t restful.  Her eyes close, but her mind never stops thinking bout Ray.  She wakes up hoping that it’s all a nightmare; that she’ll wake up and hear Ray’s loud snoring next to her, but of course…his side of the bed is empty.

Mitzi also chooses the French Toast.  She sits at the table trying to take in their scent…hoping that it’ll bring back happy memories.

Greg is the last to wake up.  He sits at the table with Kisha and drops his head…

Gregory:  Did you notice how tired dad was during my birthday party?  If he hadn’t done all that cooking for my party…maybe –

Kisha:  Greg…don’t be ridiculous!  Dad was old…his time was coming whether he cooked for your party or not.

Gregory:  Yeah…you’re right…but that doesn’t make it easier.

Kisha:  Nope…

Mitzi fills the tub with a soothing soak…hoping it will improve her mood.  Her bath is more relaxing than she thought it would be.  Mitzi ends up falling asleep and accidentally slips under the water. For just a fleeting moment, she thinks about just staying there, but the thought startles her and she quickly jumps up.

Mitzi:  Get it together girl *Mitzi says to herself after her bath*

Time to say goodbye to Ray.  The family arrives at the Peaceful Meadows Cemetery in Newcrest.  Mitzi is in the family tomb when Trent arrives.

Trent:  How are you doing mom?

Mitzi:  Oh Trent! *gives Trent a hug* I’m so glad to see you!

Greg and Kisha stay outside to allow Trent and Mitzi a moment alone to grieve.  Kisha sits down on a bench and listens while Greg plays a hauntingly beautiful song on his violin called, “Traveling Home”, which seems very appropriate for the moment.

Mitzi says her final goodbyes to her best friend while Trent stands near for moral support.

Mitzi walks into the mausoleum to have a seat and is surprised to see her friend Beverly sitting there.

Mitzi:  What are you doing here?

Beverly:  I knew you’d be coming here today and I wanted to be here for you.

Mitzi:  Thanks, Beverly…I could definitely use a friend.

Mitzi:  I can’t seem to get in touch with Ray’s sister Gladys.

Beverly:  Oh Mitzi…I’m sorry, I thought you knew.

Mitzi:  Knew what?

Beverly:  Gladys passed away the night before Ray.

Mitzi:  Oh no!  How will I tell my kids that their aunt is gone too?

Beverly:  We’ll all be gone eventually.

Mitzi:  Why are you smiling?  Doesn’t that depress you?

Beverly:  No!

Mitzi:  Why not?

Beverly:  Because I’ve had a great life…just like you…and just like Ray and Gladys.

Mitzi:  I admire you, Beverly.

Beverly:  Why?

Mitzi:  Because you have such a unique way of looking at life.  It’s like nothing bothers you!

Beverly:  I wouldn’t say that…there are plenty of things that bother me…I just try not to allow them to pull me down, you know?

Mitzi:  But that’s exactly what I’m saying.  I wish I knew how to do that!

Beverly:  It’s not easy…but you can do it!
