Mitzi’s in a melancholy mood when she wakes up thinking about her boys. She was already missing Ray, but now she’s also missing Trent and Greg.
Mitzi pulls the last of Ray’s French Toast out of the refrigerator. She takes her time with each bite as if somehow her taste buds could bring back memories of his smile, his laughter, and even the silly faces he used to make when he was focused on cooking.
It feels much too early when Kisha forces herself out of bed in time to go to work. Her clumsiness is in full effect when she attempts to wash up a dish in the sink. Another dish broken…Kisha reminds herself that she needs to replace all of the dishes with non-breakable versions.
Kisha: Mom…I forget to tell you, I got a promotion.
Mitzi: Already?
Kisha: Yep…I’m officially a police officer now.
Mitzi: I’m so proud of you! I’m proud of all my children and I want you all to remember that!
Kisha: Thanks, mom!
The first person Kisha sees when she gets to work is Angela.
Kisha: Every time I see you, you’re working so hard!
Angela: Me? Aw, that’s so sweet of you to say. This job is often thankless. I appreciate you for noticing.
Kisha: No problem.
Angela: I heard you’ve been promoted.
Kisha: Yeah…crazy, right? And there I was thinking I was about to be fired.
Angela: Nah…we need more people like you on the police force! It would have been a big mistake to fire you!
Kisha: Thanks
Kisha logs into the system and discovers that she’s been assigned her own case. She takes the few clues that she has to begin with and places them on the board before taking a trip to check out the crime scene.
At the crime scene, Kisha snaps pictures of some evidence and begins to interview potential witnesses.
Kisha: Can you tell me what has happened here, ma’am?
Witness: Well…I was about to leave for work, but I forgot my keys…so I came back. When I opened my front door, I saw somebody crawling out of one of my windows. I took a look around and saw that some of my things were missing…
Kisha: Okay… I’m going to need a description of the perpetrator as well as a list of everything that is missing.
Unfortunately, the witness didn’t have much info on what the perpetrator looked like, but Kisha found a lot of evidence and was able to get some information from a few of the officers who were already investigating the scene. Back at the station, Kisha adds new clues to the crime board. From the clues, Kisha knows that she’s looking for a clumsy suspect in a short-sleeved shirt. She’ll need a lot more information to put on an APB.
At home, Kisha watches some TV and cleans up the kitchen hoping to keep her mind off her case for a while… and Mitzi comes home more exhausted than she’s ever been before.
