After Greg and Abrey’s wedding, Kisha decides to burn some extra energy at the YMCA. Outside, she runs into Etta…
Kisha: So you’re a trainer here?
Etta: Yep…one of the best. I can help you get toned up. By the time I’m done with you…your ass will be as firm as rocks!
Kisha: Rocks? No, I don’t think I want that… sounds painful.
Etta: But if you want results…you have to take your training higher! I can do that for you!
Kisha: Oh really…that high? Uh, no thanks. I think I’ll just stick to what I’ve been doing.
Etta’s training methods sound so intense, that Kisha decides to just stick with jogging for now; avoiding the gym altogether.
As she’s jogging, Kisha sees the trolly approaching and for a moment she considers jumping on and going where ever it takes her. Maybe it’ll take her to where Jeff works and she can check him out while he trains. Of course, she doesn’t give in to impulsivity. She slows enough to allow the trolley to pass and then she continues her jog.
After her jog and a quick shower at the Y, Kisha sits on a bench to think. Is this what falling for someone feels like? No wonder they call it falling. Kisha’s not sure she likes the idea of having someone on her mind all day, yet feeling helpless when they’re not available. But then again, she does like it, because there’s a possibility that he may be feeling the same way about her. How do you allow yourself to open up to someone without totally losing yourself…or is losing yourself a part of the deal? Is that the goal? Kisha feels like she’s over analyzing the whole thing. She and Jeff have only seen each other a few times. She decides that she’ll just go with the flow. She finally gets up from the bench and heads home.
Back at home, Kisha heads into the backyard to possibly relax in the hot tub, but gets distracted by the pumpkin that Jeff carved during the Halloween party. Kisha recalls what he said as he was carving it, “I concentrate and take my time with everything I do”; his words alone causes her to feel things she’s never felt before. Kisha’s suddenly inspired to try carving her own pumpkin.
Just as Kisha is putting the finishing touches on her pumpkin, she gets a call from Danielle.
Danielle: Is it okay if Maria and I stop by? She insists on visiting her, ‘cool auntie who arrests people’.
Kisha: Uh…yeah, sure! I’d love to have you two over!
Danielle and Maria must have been very close by because they show up almost immediately.
Kisha: Hey there Maria! I have a little treat for you.
Maria: Thank you!
Kisha goes over to talk to Danielle.
Kisha: Were the two of you already in the area?
Danielle: Yeah, Maria’s mad at me because we were supposed to go shopping with Trent in Magnolia Promenade, but he got called into work at the last minute.
Kisha: Why is she mad at you for that? It’s not your fault.
Danielle: When you’re the mother of a daddy’s girl, everything is your fault! I’m afraid that we may be raising a brat. The only thing that calmed her down was promising that we’d visit you.
Kisha hopes that maybe she can help Maria feel a little better.
Kisha: Why are you mad at your mom, Maria?
Maria: She said we’d go shopping and go out for ice cream with daddy!
Kisha: But he had to go to work…your mom didn’t have anything to do with that!
Maria: But she promised!
Kisha: It’s not her fault, though…she didn’t break her promise. Blame it on your dad’s boss.
Maria: But I don’t know my dad’s boss.
Kisha: Well maybe that means that you should give up on being mad at your mom.
Kisha: You know…you should really apologize to your mother. I think you’ve made her feel bad.
Maria: I guess so. I didn’t mean to, but I wanted to shop with daddy really bad.
Kisha: Yeah…I know what that’s like.
Kisha: So, just to make sure we’re on the same page…you will apologize to your mother?
Maria: Yes, I promise.
Kisha: And you will not blame her when something happens and it’s not her fault, right?
Maria: No
Kisha: Good! That’s what I want to hear!
Kisha feels pretty good about successfully defusing the situation between her niece and sister-in-law.
Maria: But…can I still be mad when something changes when I was looking forward to it?
Kisha pulls Maria close and gives her a big hug…
Kisha: Of course…I think we all feel that way in those type of situations, but we can’t take it out on those we love.
Maria: Okay
Kisha: You remind me so much of myself when I was your age!
Maria: I do?
Kisha: Yep
Maria: Yay! Maybe I can grow up and arrest people too!
Kisha: The world would be a much better place!
Kisha pulls out some leftovers and offers Maria and Danielle something to eat.
Kisha: Now would be a good time to apologize to your mom.
Maria: Okay auntie Kisha… *to Danielle* I’m sorry that I was mad at you earlier mommy!
Danielle: It’s okay baby…thanks for the apology!
Kisha stands back; proud of her little “mini me”
The rest of the visit with Danielle and Maria goes great as they all sit back and watch a couple of cooking challenges on the food channel.
For the first time ever, Kisha considers what it would be like to be a mother someday; something that she never thought that she’d be any good at. Being around Maria has given her the confidence and the slight desire.
Danielle and Maria leave after a few hours and Kisha adds a picture of her niece to the wall.
Kisha heads outside to get in a few rounds on the heavy bag, but her workout is interrupted by a call from Jeff.
Jeffrey: I was just calling to say, ‘goodnight beautiful’!
Kisha: *big smile* Good night to you too!
Jeffrey: It’ll be much better now that I’ve heard your voice.
Kisha: Aw, thanks! See you soon.
Jeffrey: Definitely
Jeffrey’s sweet words, through the phone, bring up the same desire for him that she had on their first date. She knows it’ll be hard to suppress it when she sees him again. Even tonight, her hot bath with rose petal soaks only work to increase her thoughts of the possibility of them being together for the first time.
