4:30 am…
Kisha: Jeff, it’s time!
Jeffrey: What – the baby? The baby’s coming?
Kisha: Oh Gawd…I think my water just broke! We have to get to the hospital.
Jeffrey: I’m not ready! I’m not ready for this!
Jeff and Kisha arrive at the hospital at the same time as Dr. Jonah Hughes (Kisha‘s childhood friend). Jeff looks scared, Dr. Hughes looks excited and Kisha looks like she’s ready to get it all over with.
Kisha: Oh Jeff! It hurts so bad!
Jeffrey: *embraces Kisha* It’s okay, babe…everything’s gonna be okay!
Jeff prides himself on normally being pretty cool and collected, but being at the hospital about to become a father for the first time sends him into a panic. He ends up running through the hospital like a madman. He gets sent to the cafeteria while Kisha is admitted. Kisha later joins him…
Jeffrey: I don’t appreciate them banning me to the cafeteria like some sort of child.
Kisha: Yeah, but you were acting a little crazy.
Jeffrey: I know, but this is a bit much for me.
Kisha: For you?
Jeffrey: Sorry…that was insensitive. How are you doing?
Kisha: Better, but I think it’s time. They said that you can come to the delivery room, but only if you remain calm.
Jeffrey: I’ll try…
Kisha leads the way to the delivery room, where she’s prepped for delivery.
Dr. Hughes enters the room…
Dr. Hughes: It’s time!
Kisha: Jeff? Where are you? I can’t see you! I’m scared!
Jeff stands beside Kisha…
Jeffrey: I’m right here babe. Everything’s going to be okay.
Jeff’s voice doesn’t sound confident.
Everything seems to be going well at first, then the machine suddenly begins to go haywire and stuff begins squirting everywhere…
Dr. Hughes: Oh no!
Jeffrey: What the hell? Is that school glue? Do you even know what you’re doing?
Dr. Hughes: This is sort of my first delivery, but I assure you that I’ve been highly trained.
Jeffrey: I can’t tell!
The arms of the delivery bed seem to be fighting themselves and Dr. Hughes struggles to regain control.
Kisha: What’s happening, Jeff? I can’t see what’s going on!
Jeffrey: *lies* Uh babe…everything is fine. You’re in good hands! Dr. Hughes says that he’s been highly trained.
Kisha: Jonah! You’d better know what you’re doing!
Dr. Hughes presses a few buttons until he’s regained control of the machine.
Dr. Hughes: Ah…there we are!
A few moments later, Kisha and Jeff’s baby is delivered…
Dr. Hughes: You are the parents of a beautiful baby girl!
Introducing – Zena Wallace-Knowles
Kisha: How does she look Jeff? I can’t see her!
Jeffrey: She looks perfectly healthy. She’s gorgeous, Kisha! You did it!
Dr. Hughes looks just as relieved as Jeff.
Kisha is released from the delivery bed, changes into regular clothes and holds her daughter for the first time.
Kisha: She’s incredible! Come and hold her Jeff!
Jeffrey: I don’t think I can…I might drop her. I’m still shaking.
Jeffrey: I am so proud of you and I love you so much!
Kisha: I love you too!
