Kisha and Angela arrive at the house and walk over to Zena’s bassinet.
Kisha: Here she is! *holds Zena up* Say hello to my friend Angela, Zee!
Angela: She looks just like Jeff!
Kisha: You think so?
Angela: Absolutely!
Kisha: *to Zena* Do you look like your daddy, little Zee? You do, don’t you?
Seeing Kisha holding Jeff’s baby is harder on Angela than she thought it would be. She suddenly begins to feel a little emotional but does her best to play it off. Kisha still picks up on it…
Kisha: You okay?
Angela: Yeah…I, uh…was just imagining what it would be like to have a little one of my own.
Kisha: There’s nothing quite like it, I can tell you that!
Kisha offers Angela something to eat and she accepts.
Kisha: So…I take it that you’d like to have kids one day.
Angela: Yeah, I’ve often imagined myself being the happy little homemaker. Whatever that means.
Kisha: Are you seeing anyone right now?
Angela: No…I could have been, but I was stupid and I sort of let him get away. Heck…you can actually say that I gave him away.
Kisha: What do you mean? How do you give someone away?
Angela: Never mind…these potatoes are on point girl! What did you put on them?
Kisha: Oh…a little salt, pepper, butter and sour cream. Nothing special!
Jeff comes home from work. When he walks in and sees Kisha at the table talking to someone…he expects to see Ebony. His heart almost stops when he sees that it’s Angela instead. Angela spots him lurking near the front door…
Angela: Oh, hey there Jeff!
Jeffrey: Hi Angela, Kisha…
Jeff would rather be anywhere but there at the moment. He can’t imagine why Angela would possibly be in their house. Rather than ask and try to find out, he walks straight over to Zena and tries to feed her as a way to avoid talking to Angela. Zena refuses the bottle several times, but Jeff is too distracted to notice, so he keeps trying to give it to her. Kisha notices…
Kisha: Jeff! I don’t think she wants it.
Angela: You okay Jeff…you seem a little agitated.
Jeffrey: *plays it off* Long day at work…
Jeff puts Zena back in her bassinet and sits on the couch.
Kisha: You’re not hungry babe?
Jeff is very hungry, but there’s no way he’s going to join Angela at the table.
Jeffrey: No…I ate before I left work.
Angela loves the fact that he seems tense. She makes it worse by going and sitting next to him on the couch…
Angela: So…how’s it going, old friend?
Jeffrey: *whispers frantically* What the hell are you doing here?
Although Jeff whispers, Angela refuses to play along…
Angela: *loud voice* Oh…Kisha was nice enough to invite me to the spa with her when her friend Ebony couldn’t make it! She says it was your treat, so thank you!
Jeffrey: *fake smile* Did she now? Well…I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Angela: I did…very much. Kisha and I just might have to make that our permanent hang out spot. Right, Kisha?
Kisha: That would be great! It was so relaxing.
Jeffrey: Yeah…great.
Kisha: I think Zee is over stimulated…I’m going to take her into the bedroom.
Jeffrey: *desperate to escape* Let me help you!
Kisha: No…keep Angela company. I’ve got her!
Jeff keeps talking in the pseudo-friendly voice until Kisha is out of the room…
Jeffrey: Cut the bullshit Ang…why are you really here?
Angela: I’m just as surprised that I’m here as you are Jeff. I thought for sure you had told Kisha about our last conversation. Imagine my shock when she calls me up and asks me to meet her at the spa. If you didn’t tell her…I figured there must be a reason. Maybe you’re not really ready to let me go!
Jeffrey: You’re damned right there’s a reason, but not what you’re thinking!
In the bedroom, Kisha can hear that Jeff’s tone is angry. If she walked into the room right now, she’s sure she’d get an earful…but she can’t bring herself to do it.
Jeffrey: I didn’t tell her because I don’t want to worry her with your issues. She’d never believe that I’m not still attracted to you!
Angela: You’re right because I don’t believe it!
Jeffrey: Well you need to, because I’m not. I love Kisha…I love Zena. My heart is with them!
Angela: Yeah, but the attraction is not something that you can just turn on and off. If you were attracted to me before…then you still are.
Jeffrey: No Angela…I’m not.
Angela: *head in hands* I don’t believe you! Do you know how hard it is to see you with her…with a baby that’s not mine?
Jeffrey: Well stop coming around! Don’t put yourself through it anymore.
Angela: It’s not that easy. I genuinely like Kisha. She was my friend before the two of you met…I helped her through a very difficult time. And you were my friend too!
Jeffrey: I’d be willing to be your friend, but not if you can’t let the rest go!
Jeffrey: You have a decision, Angela… I’m not going to allow you to break up my family. If you want to come around…you’re going to have to find a way to move on…or I’m going to go in there and tell Kisha everything! I’ll make sure she never wants to talk to you again. We’ll both be out of your life!
Angela: Please don’t do that to me. You two are the only friends that I’ve got.
Jeffrey: Well get it together Ang. I’m sure there’s someone else out there for you, but believe me…it’s not me!
Angela: But –
Jeffrey: It’s not me! You need to go before Kisha comes back in here. I’m not going to allow you to upset her.
Angela: Okay, I’ll go.
Angela is out the door before Kisha re-enters the room…
Kisha: What happened? Is Angela leaving without saying goodbye?
Jeffrey: She thought you’d be in there for a while with Zee. She didn’t want to disturb you two.
Kisha: You sounded angry…is everything okay between the two of you?
Jeffrey: Yeah, just an old misunderstanding. Is it okay if we don’t talk about it right now? I want to hear about the spa.
Kisha gives Jeff a hug…
Kisha: The spa was just what I needed…thank you so much!
Jeffrey: You’re very welcome!
Kisha: Jeff, I’m not going to pretend that I don’t want to know what’s going on with Angela. But, I’m going to trust that you’re handling it.
Jeffrey: Thank you for trusting me with it. I promise that you don’t have to be concerned.
Kisha: Okay…I’m going to bed.
Jeff finally gets a chance to grab something to eat. He just hopes that his promise to Kisha doesn’t turn into a lie.
