Egg Day (1)
It’s Egg Day, and the weather is nice, so Merlin decides to serve breakfast outside in the backyard. It seems like an excellent place to deliver some news to Jalisa. Everyone makes their choice of French Toast or Breakfast Scramble and sits down at the table. The triplets get into their own conversation…
Jalin: I bet I can make eggs come out of my nose.
Jamelia: Do it!
Melisa: Eww, don’t!
While Merlin gives Jalisa his news…
Merlin: I need to return to Mt. Komorebi this weekend to meet with a client.
Jalisa: Do you think it’s a good time for a business trip? You and I just got over being sick.
Merlin: I know, but I don’t have much choice. We have a bunch of bills to pay, and with the triplet’s tuition –
Jalisa: Not this again…
Merlin: I’m not trying to start an argument. I’m just realistic. But, I was hoping to make this a family trip. We could take the triplets and teach them how to snowboard. We could even show them where we were married.
Jalisa: Return to the cottage?
Merlin: Well, we couldn’t stay there. It’s way too small.
Jalisa: I know, but just seeing it again would be great.
Merlin: So, we’re doing this?
Jalisa: Yes. Let’s go!
After breakfast, the triplets go off in search of Egg Day eggs.
Jalin: I bet I‘ll find one before you will.
Melisa: You don’t even know where to look.
Jalin: Neither do you!
Me-Me tries the couches while Jay looks in the plants on the patio. Neither of them is successful, so they begin to search the rest of the backyard.
Jalisa looks up from her laptop.
Jalisa: What are you three up to?
Melisa: We’re looking for Egg Day eggs.
Jalisa: Maybe you all should try looking somewhere else.
Jalisa means searching inside the house, but the triplets take it to mean somewhere else outside, so they sneak out the back gate and explore other places near the home.
Jalisa: Do you think the Spring Bunny hid any out here?
Melisa: We should pick flowers for mommy!
The three of them are distracted with the task of picking flowers, but only for a moment. Soon they are back on their egg hunting mission.
Jamelia: *turns towards the dumpster* We should check in there!
Jalin: But there’s smelly trash in there.
Jamelia: Maybe that’s what the Spring Bunny wants us to say so that we won’t find the eggs.
Lia opens the dumpster just as Merlin comes around the corner.
Merlin: Don’t even think about it!
