Jeff can tell that Kisha is bothered by her brother’s behavior, so he suggests that maybe it’s time for him to blow out the candles; hoping that it’ll make her feel a little better. Everyone wishes Jeff a happy birthday, except Trent who insists on being stubborn and unapologetic.
Ebony sees an opportunity to say hello to Greg and Trent, which is awkward for Greg, because of their history…
Ebony: Hey guys…long time no see!
Gregory: Not right now Ebony…now is not the time.
Ebony: Don’t worry…I’m not here to cause any trouble. I just wanted to be friendly.
Trent: Good to see you too Ebony.
Gregory: *grunts out an unenthused hello*
Ebony: *ignores Greg* * to Trent* How’s fatherhood been treating you?
Trent: Great…here’s my little princess now!
Maria: Hello!
No one, but Kisha, has noticed that Danielle has been on the verge of tears the whole time.
Kisha: What’s the matter, Danielle?
Danielle: I’m sorry for ruining the party. I probably should have stayed home.
Kisha: I’m glad you didn’t. Are you going to tell me what’s bothering you?
Danielle: It’s just…Trent is thrilled about us having a second baby, but I’m not!
Kisha: What do you mean?
Danielle: I’m a terrible mother Kisha…and now I’m doing it all over again.
Kisha: Why do you say that?
Danielle: It’s Maria! She runs all over me, but to Trent, she can do no wrong. He thinks I’m just exaggerating because she’s like an angel around him.
Kisha: Have you talked to him about it?
Danielle: Yes, but like I said…he thinks she can do no wrong. I wish my mother was still around…so I had someone to give me advice.
Kisha: I’m so sorry Danielle.
Kisha: Do you want me to talk to him?
Danielle: No…just stay out of it. He probably wouldn’t listen anyway.
Kisha: Should I be nervous…I mean, about my own baby?
Danielle: No…*feels Kisha’s tummy* I’m sure you’ll be a terrific mother because you had a terrific mother! I guess I’ve been a bit too lenient on Maria because my mother was so tough on me. Maybe I should have been taking notes.
Jeff sits down next to Greg…
Jeffrey: I haven’t had much luck getting on Trent’s good side. I thought maybe I’d have better luck with you.
Gregory: Yeah…I don’t know what’s up with Trent; being so rude and unreasonable. I’m usually the grumpy one.
Jeffrey: I love your sister very much –
Gregory: No need to explain yourself to me. Families begin in all sorts of ways…*glances over to Abrey* obviously.
Jeffrey: True that!
Kisha is happy to see that at least one of her brothers is treating Jeff right.
Kisha walks inside to put some dishes in the dishwasher and sees that Trent is alone. She walks over…
Kisha: Trent, you need to apologize to Jeff.
Trent: What? But, I didn’t say anything that shouldn’t have been said.
Kisha: What did you say to him?
Trent: I suggested that he should marry you.
Kisha: What?! Why would you do that? How do you even know that I’m ready to be married?
Trent: I just figured that if you’re having a baby together, then the right thing –
Kisha: *interrupts* The right thing? When did you get so judgmental and righteous? I can’t believe you!
Trent: Okay…I admit it. I was wrong. I was just trying to look after you, little sis. *saddened tone* You know, with mom and dad being gone…all we have is each other.
Kisha: *calms down* I know, but I’m an adult now. I can look after myself. I love him and he loves me…that’s all that matters for now.
Trent gives Kisha a big hug…
Trent: I know you can look after yourself…that’s what scares me. What’s my purpose now in your life?
Kisha: You’ll always have a purpose in my life…that’s why it was so important to me to have you all over.
Jeff walks into the house…
Kisha: There he is now…you need to apologize.
Trent: Jeff, I was out of line. I’m sorry.
Jeffrey: No problem bro. I love your sister as much as you do and I’ll take very good care of her and our baby.
Trent: Okay, I accept that. Welcome to the family!
Kisha: *to Trent and Greg* Thank you both for being here. My baby will be very lucky to be born into this family.
Cake makes everybody feel better!
Kisha promised not to mention Danielle’s situation to Trent, but she sees another way that she can help out…
Maria: Auntie, can I feel your baby? Your tummy is bigger than my mommy’s!
Kisha: Sure…the baby is moving around right now. Put your hands here in the front.
Maria: The baby kicked me!
Kisha: Mini-me, I have to say that I’m a little disappointed in you!
Maria: Why?
Kisha: I thought we talked about treating your mommy better. I just spoke to her and you are making her feel very sad.
Maria: Oh…
Kisha: You have a little sister or brother coming and your mommy is going to need you to be a big girl. You need to listen to her and not talk back…or I’m going to hear about it. Okay?
Maria: Okay…I’m sorry.
Kisha: Your mommy is the one that needs the apology.
Maria: Okay
The party is over and Kisha is happy that it seemed to have brought her family closer together. The only downside…it seriously wore her out!
Later that night…Greg and Abrey receive the phone call they were waiting for. Their adopted son, Jalen Wallace-Livingston, is born and moves into his new home!
