Wallace Family – Day 2.7 (Part 2)

Reminder: This is my very first Sims 4 family, which was originally posted starting in 2015. I’m in the process of moving these posts over from my Tumblr page. See more info here!

Marv and Op are in their bedroom playing when Mina comes in to change them into their cold weather clothes. The news of Abbie’s death has hit her hard, so she’s desperately in need of something to distract her from her grief.

The twins walk towards the stairs with Mina right behind them. She picks Marv up to carry him down, but Op starts crawling down the stairs on his own.

Mina: *proud, at the bottom of the stairs* Did you come downstairs all by yourself Opie?

Opus: My self!

Mina:  Good for you! *puts Marv down next to his brother* Let’s go outside and play in the snow!

Op goes straight to the slide, but Marv is content to just play in the snow.

Mina: Who wants to build a snowman?

Mina begins grabbing big chunks of snow and forming them into a snow pal.

Mina continues working and Opus walks over to join her.

They work until Mina’s hands and feet begin to feel numb from the cold.

Mina: We’d better get inside.

Inside the house, Mina changes everyone out of their cold weather clothes, then puts the twins into their high chairs for a very early dinner. Once again she offers peas. This time, Op and Marv are both hungry enough to eat them.

Adwin arrives home looking like he’s been put through the wringer.

Mina: You okay?

Adwin: No…between helping Dexter plan Abbie’s funeral, setting up my work travel schedule and trying to get in touch with Ajay – this day has been hell! Carla called to tell me that she can’t get in touch with Ajay either.

Mina: Sorry to hear that. Do you think Ajay is okay?

Adwin: That’s the thing…you never know how he’ll react to something like this. He and Abbie were very close. She’s the closest thing he had to a mother before Carla came back into the picture.

Adwin and Mina sit down at the table.

Mina: What are you going to do?

Adwin: I’ll text him to let him know about the funeral tomorrow…and if he doesn’t return – then I might have to go up there and get him.

Mina: I’m sure it won’t come to that. I have confidence that he’ll be back in time.

Adwin: I hope so!

After their talk, Mina gets up to start cleaning up. Adwin gets up to help, but he ends up passing out on the floor from exhaustion. Mina is tired too, but she forces herself to hold it together for the twins’ sake.

Adwin eventually wakes up with enough energy to make it up the stairs. Opus crawls up the stairs behind him.

Mina would love to be heading upstairs and getting ready for bed herself, but Marv is whiny and in need of some attention. Mina somehow finds a special reserve of energy and spends some time swinging and rolling around with him.

Before too long…they’re both tired and ready for bed.

Bryanna has given Ajay a lot to think about. He leaves her house late at night, after turning down her offer to stay the night on her sofa. It was great talking to her, but right now he needs to be outdoors in the fresh air…under the stars – no matter how cold it is. He just wants to be alone to think of his g-ma and how to apply some of what Bryanna told him to his own life.

Ajay is feeling a bit dirty and grimy, but it’s too cold to get completely undressed. He pulls out a shower in a bottle and uses it to clean his face, hair and some of the dirt off his coat.

He finds a fire pit nearby, so he pulls out another tofu dog and roasts it on the open flames. He loves what Bryanna said about living off the land. It’s something that Ajay can see himself incorporating into his own life, but he wants to do it in a way where he wouldn’t have to live isolated from his family. He feels bad enough not being around to see his g-ma before she passed away…he doesn’t want to have to deal with this type of pain and guilt ever again.

Ajay bites into his tofu dog after it’s been heated up enough. He tries to eat quickly before the cold turns it into something almost inedible. He’s hungry, but the tofu dog does nothing to fill the empty pit that’s taken over inside him. He slowly realizes that nothing will ever completely fill it.

Ajay thought for sure there would be no signal way out here in the middle of nowhere, so he’s surprised when his phone alerts him of a text. He pulls his cell out of his pockets and checks it. It’s from his dad…

Adwin’s Text: The funeral will be at noon 2moro. Pls come

Seeing the words makes it all too real. He recalls what it was like to have to bury their dog Skittles. It was bad enough seeing him being put into the ground, but he couldn’t stop thinking about poor Skittles being alone and forgotten… Ajay does his best to shake the memory out of his head. The thought of the same thing happening to his g-ma is heavy like a weight threatening to pull him down. He struggles, but he can’t fight it. That’s when the tears come.

Ajay cries until his eyes physically hurt. The mental anguish suddenly gives way to anger…a deep intense resentment. Ajay looks straight ahead, hoping to connect with whoever is watching. This whole thing is unfair and he intends to make that known…

Adwin-Jamie: F&#k you and your f&#ked up plans for my life!

The yelling does nothing but make his throat raw. He breathes in deeply and swallows a few times, but the cold air only aggravates the problem. Ajay turns and walks towards his tent. The only thing left to do is try to get some sleep and face everything tomorrow.
