Q is up before me the next morning as usual. Rather than wait for him to finish up his shower…I decide to undress and join him.
After we’re dressed and ready for the day…we join Alice and Q Sr. in the kitchen to celebrate Peri’s birthday. I help her blow out her candles and she ages up to a child.
(Prosperity’s Aspiration: Artistic Prodigy Trait: Perfectionist)
We all grab breakfast and head to the table.
Alice: What do you want to do for your birthday today, Peri?
Prosperity: Something bright and colorful!
Alice: Bright and colorful is not something you can do, honey.
Prosperity: *disappointed* Why not?
Alice: Those are adjectives…used for describing things, not verbs.
Prosperity: But it’s what I want granny.
Peri sits down at the table looking pouty and disheartened. I decide to intervene.
Alida: Maybe we can go to the beach.
Quincy Sr.: The beach sounds like a plan to me.
Quincy Jr.: Yeah…there’s one more that I’d like for Alida and Peri to see before we leave.
Alice: I can’t believe you all are leaving already.
Peri interrupts the conversation by throwing her hands in the air…
Prosperity: Granny look! *crosses her eyes, makes a silly face and waves her arms around*
Alice: We don’t do that at the table sweetheart.
Peri stops, but giggles at her own attempt at humor…
Prosperity: But it was funny, right?
I figure that Peri must be feeling some type of way about us leaving soon because she continues to try and get her grandparent’s attention.
Prosperity: *points to her plate* Pop-pop, I bet I can eat the rest of my food in one mouthful.
I intervene again…
Alida: Peri don’t, you’ll choke…
Alice: And that’s not appropriate at the table either.
Prosperity: But I was talking to pop-pop.
Q Sr. responds…
Quincy Sr.: *chuckles* I bet you could, but I think you’ll enjoy it a lot better if you eat it one bite at a time.
That’s all it takes…
Prosperity: *eats her food appropriately* Okay pop-pop!
Peri finishes up her breakfast…
Alida: You need to get dressed if you want to celebrate your birthday.
I get up and begin to clear plates, then go to my laptop to work on my next freelance job while Peri gets up and heads to her room. The rest of the family continues chatting at the table for a while longer.
