We arrive at another beach located on the other side of Sulani. Everyone takes off doing their own activities. Q Jr. and Sr. go for a swim, Alice finds a spot to do some sunbathing, I do some beachcombing to find a few souvenirs to take home and Peri plays in the sand.
Prosperity: I’m digging to the other side of the world!
Alida: *I chuckle* That would take the rest of your life and then some.
Peri soon gives up on her mission and begins digging for tiny crabs instead…while I manage to find a few pretty shells to take home.
Being here in Sulani with Q has taught me to be brave and try new things. I hop on one of the aqua zips and take off. Q Sr. and Alice find their own ways to enjoy some fun in the sun.
Prosperity: Daddy! I want to learn to swim like you!
Quincy Jr.: Okay…but to learn to swim, you have to learn how to float and tread water. Let’s go into deeper water…
Peri follows Q Jr. fearlessly into much deeper water.
Once they get to where Peri’s feet can barely touch the sand below…
Quincy Jr.: Okay…lift up your legs and begin kicking.
After a few unsuccessful tries…Peri takes to it like a guppy.
Prosperity: *excited* I’m doing it daddy! I’m doing it!
Quincy Jr.: You sure are! You’re a quick learner.
The sun begins to set. Knowing that our time here is coming to an end begins to affect us all. We’ll be leaving for Oasis Springs first thing in the morning. Q Jr. comes over and pulls me into his arms. I’ll miss waking up each morning to such a beautiful place, but I’m grateful that we’ve built such incredible memories here.
The hugs continue when we get back to the house. Although we still have several hours before we have to catch our flight…we start our goodbyes early. Alice and I hug. I wouldn’t say that we’re just magically the best of friends or that I see her as another mother yet, but I can see our relationship moving in that direction. Peri hugs her pop-pop and Q Jr. follows suit.
I go to the bedroom and start packing, while Peri, Q Sr. and Q Jr. watch some TV. Peri sits right up close to her pop-pop.
Quincy Sr.: I’m going to miss you sweet one!
Prosperity: I’ll miss you too.
I secretly think that out of Q’s parents, Quincy Sr. is her favorite, but I’d never tell Alice that.
