Q is up, as usual, ready for his morning jog. When he returns home…he decides to try his hand at making me a birthday cake.
Everyone gathers in the kitchen. It’s time for me to blow out my candles and age up to an adult. I’m older, but it doesn’t feel much different.
Now that I’m better rested from our trip…I take a moment to check out the work that Michelle did on Q’s photography studio and our new office. I don’t know how she found the time with her busy schedule, but she did an incredible job.
The office looks equally as amazing. I sit down to make good use of it right away. I still have that last freelance programming job that I took while in Sulani hanging over my head. It promises a great payday, but it’s due early tomorrow. I’m determined to finish it…even if it takes all day and all night.
It’s time for Q to get back to work as well. First, he completes a new beat and uploads it to his music channel, then he goes to the photography studio to make sure it’s ready for new clients.
Peri also finds something to occupy her time for a while. She decides to complete a fall craft and hangs it up on her wall. It appears that Michelle was right to make sure that she had an art desk in her bedroom.
Now that her craft is complete, Peri is ready to play. She seeks out Q first…
Prosperity: Play with me, daddy!
Quincy: I can’t Peri. We’ve been on vacation all summer…it’s time for me to get to work now.
Prosperity: But I hate work. Work is no fun!
Quincy: Maybe not, but it’s necessary. If daddy doesn’t work…we won’t have food to eat or clothes to wear. We’ll have to live outside too.
Prosperity: I want to live outside!
Quincy: Not when it’s a million degrees outside…or when it gets cold and rainy. Go see if mommy can play.
Peri comes into the office.
Prosperity: Play with me, mommy.
Alida: Not right now Peri. I have to –
Prosperity: *interjects* You have to work…just like daddy.
Alida: Yep…we can play tomorrow – once I’m done with this job. I promise.
Peri has one more person that she can ask. She goes upstairs and finds grandma Lea sitting on the couch watching TV. Peri is not about to take ‘no’ for an answer…
Prosperity: Gran-Lea…play with me!
Lea: Play? I don’t know how to play.
Prosperity: But everyone knows how to play!
Lea: I don’t…
Prosperity: *begs* Pleeeease! Mommy and daddy are busy and I don’t have anyone else to play with!
Lea: *sighs and gives in* Okay…what do you want to play?
Peri wants to play with her new block table outside, so that’s where they go.
Lea: So, what do I do?
Prosperity: Just pick up blocks and begin sticking them together.
Lea: Okay…this can go here, and this can go…here!
Lea continues randomly sticking blocks together.
Lea: Like this?
Prosperity: Not bad…but it could use a little creativity – let me show you.
Peri begins building to show Gran-Lea how it’s done.
Lea tries again, but Peri still isn’t satisfied. She pulls out a block building manual.
Prosperity: You can get ideas from this.
While Peri becomes focused on building, Lea sneaks away to the bathroom.
Upstairs, Q pulls out all the left-overs and he, Peri and Lea sit down to eat. Afterward, they all gather in the living room to watch some TV.
It’s finally time for mama to leave and try to settle into her new living situation. I take a brief moment to eat, then head back downstairs to finish the app…prepared to pull an all-nighter if I have to.
