It’s Winterfest and Q is up extra early working on a secret surprise for Alida. Luckily she’s taking some time off from work and as a result, doesn’t really have a reason to visit the office downstairs.
Peri is also up early. She’s glad that she gets another day off before she has to start high school. Q comes upstairs to start cooking a special breakfast for the special day.
Quincy: I need your help in getting the house ready for your mom. I don’t want her to have to do much today.
Prosperity: What do you need me to do?
Quincy: There’s a pile of gifts downstairs in the photography studio…start bringing them up and placing them under the tree, please.
Peri does as her father asks, but gets distracted by a pink wrapped gift that has her name on it but doesn’t reveal who it’s from.
I finally drag myself out of bed and into the bathroom. This pregnancy is approaching the end and I couldn’t be happier. I just hope to make it through the day without peeing myself or being tempted to crawl in bed right in the middle of our celebrations. I leave the bathroom to see Q hard at work preparing a large breakfast.
While Q is busy cooking, I sit down near Peri.
Alida: Will you help me decorate the tree after breakfast?
Prosperity: Daddy says that he doesn’t want you doing much today.
Alida: That’s sweet, but I’m sure I can handle throwing a few ornaments up on a tree.
Q finishes up the meal and I prepare a pitcher of my favorite citrus punch that Mama Nadine used to make. Then I join Q and Peri at the table.
We don’t often get the chance to sit down and eat together, so I take advantage and decide to start a family discussion…
Alida: Any ideas on what we should name the baby?
I want to get Peri involved in everything that has to do with the baby as much as possible.
Prosperity: How do we name the baby when we don’t even know if it’s a girl or boy?
Quincy: We can make a list of girl and boy names or go with something unisex.
Prosperity: Sounds too much like homework.
Alida: It’s not homework, but it’s important because the name will follow the baby for the rest of their life. Like with your name…I wanted you to have a name that meant success.
Prosperity: So it is homework! Homework that can ruin someone’s life!
Quincy: We did okay with your name didn’t we?
Prosperity: That’s up for debate. I just now learned how to correctly spell my name!
The baby naming discussion doesn’t get very far, but I have an idea…
Alida: If any names come to mind…just write it on the calendar. We’ll make a final decision once the baby arrives. Okay?
Quincy: Sounds good to me…
Prosperity: I guess I can do that.
After breakfast, Q disappears downstairs and Peri and I start work on the Christmas tree. It doesn’t take long for us to get in a more festive mood.
After I’ve added a few finishing touches and Peri places the last gift under the tree…I call mama and invite her over to spend the day with us. It’ll be the first Winterfest that I’ve ever spent with her and I’m honestly looking forward to it.
