I wake up extra early, happy to have free time to do some leisurely painting. I also end up with a high-level job with a very generous signing bonus that I didn’t even have to apply for. Now I see why a distinguished degree from Britechester is so coveted.
Meanwhile, Kai is on the other end of the spectrum…hoping to be accepted into college. The waiting is starting to get to him, and he feels highly anxious about it. He seeks anything that’ll distract him, and right now, that means playing his music extremely loud, which leads to a “loud” phase.
I get dressed for my graduation ceremony, which is scheduled to begin in a few hours, and sit down to a quick meal.
When it’s time for me to leave, I bang on Kai’s door, but I doubt he hears me because he has his music cranked up way too loud.
Prosperity: *yells over music* It’s time for me to go. See you at the graduation?
Kai responds, but the words are lost in the music – sounding like mumbles that I don’t have time to try and decipher at the moment. I have to hope he shows up when it’s time.
(Uh oh, I wonder what that new lifestyle gain will mean for Peri’s relationship with Waddell. Talk about bad timing.)
Fireworks from the gym greet the graduates. I’m standing near the door, waiting for the other graduates, when I hear Kai call out to me.
Kai: Ma, we’re here!
I barely expected Kai to show up for my ceremony, but I look over and see not only him but daddy, Waddell, Wild, and Kimmie. The fact that they all showed up and are here, ready to support me, brings a tear to my eye.
I rush over to hug daddy.
Prosperity: I didn’t expect to see you so early. My graduation dinner isn’t until much later.
Quincy: Now you know I wasn’t about to miss my firstborn walking across that stage.
Prosperity: *big smile* I’m glad you’re here.
Quincy: Your mother would be so proud of you. You’re the first in our family to graduate from college.
Prosperity: Thanks, daddy.
Quincy: Merit wanted to be here, but he just started a new job and couldn’t get any time off.
Prosperity: It’s okay. I know he’s here in spirit.
I thank Kimmie and Wild for coming as well. They decided to stay in Windenburg last night so they’d be here for my graduation. That means so much to me.
I hug Waddell next.
Prosperity: I’m so glad you came. Now you’ll get to meet my dad and my friends.
Waddell: I wasn’t sure if we were on “meet the father” status or not, so I almost didn’t come.
Prosperity: Well, I’m glad you did. Now that Kai knows about us, I don’t want to have to hide you anymore.
Waddell: That’s a relief!
It’s time to change into my cap and gown and line up with the other graduates. Harvey, my former tenant, and I congratulate one another. Then we enter the gym, where the ceremony begins.
We exit the gym and toss our caps in the air, each of us proud to be Britechester’s newest class of graduates.
Before we leave to change for my graduation dinner, I take selfies with Waddell, Kai, and daddy.
After a few more snapshots, we disperse, then meet up a few hours later, dressed to impress, at a fancy restaurant in Windenburg recommended by Waddell. I’m thrilled to get a chance to enjoy an expensive meal with some of my favorite people in the sim world.
