Q wakes up first thing in the morning and runs to the main house just as the snow begins to fall. He wants to prepare a good breakfast for Kai and Peri before they leave for school and work. In the process, he reaches level 10 in the cooking skill.
Daddy has just finished cooking French Toast when I walk over to join him in the kitchen.
Prosperity: Daddy, you’re going to spoil us with all this good food.
Quincy: Well, it’s not like I have anything else to do.
Prosperity: Funny you should say that. I found a club for you.
Quincy: I wasn’t aware we were looking for one.
Prosperity: Before you start, hear me out. It’s called the Boss Level Elder Group, and it meets every Tuesday and Thursday at noon at the lounge in the Windenburg Inn.
Quincy: So it meets today? You really expect me to go out in this weather? I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the cold here.
Prosperity: You’ll get used to it, and that’s what heavy coats are for.
Quincy: I’m from the desert. I don’t own a heavy coat.
I clean up the kitchen and make a note to myself to buy daddy a heavy coat so he can’t use that as an excuse not to get out and meet people. While he sits down and talks to Kai, I pull out a few logic books. I thought I’d be done studying once I graduated college, but now I see that learning never ends. If I want a promotion at my job, I have to increase my logic skill by two levels.
Kai leaves for his last day of high school, and daddy pulls out his guitar and begins to practice. Apparently, learning hasn’t ended for him either. He’s been working hard at mastering the guitar since I was a kid, but I’m glad he’s still at it. It gives him something to do while Kai and I are gone.
It’s time for me to leave for work. I say my goodbyes to daddy and try one more time to get him to consider checking out the elder group.
Prosperity: Remember, the group meets at noon – Windenburg Inn. Do you need me to text that to you?
Quincy: No, Peri! I’m old, but I’m not senile.
Prosperity: I know, daddy. Love you! See you after work.
Q puts away his guitar a little while after Peri leaves for work. He wasn’t going to admit it to her, but he decided that he’d try out the group soon after she told him about it. He doesn’t have anything else to do.
He arrives at the Windenburg Inn and hurries into the building before he freezes. The lounge is pretty empty as he enters, but he soon sees some older people slowly making their way inside. He decides to purchase a round of drinks for the group as an ice breaker.
Q walks over to one of the older gentlemen.
Quincy: Are you a part of the Boss Group?
Frank: Yeah, I’m Frank. Are you interested in joining?
Quincy: Maybe. I’m Quincy, but I go by Q. I purchased drinks for everyone.
Frank: Then you’ll fit right in around here. Nice to meet you!
Franks tells the other members about the free drinks, and they all make their way over to the bar.
Frank takes it upon himself to introduce Q to the rest of the group.
Frank: Everyone, thank our potential new member for the drinks. This is Quincy, who goes by Q.
Group Members: Thank you, Q.
Frank: *continues introductions* This lovely lady next to me is Gladys.
Gladys: Hi Q. Nice to meet you.
Frank: And over there is Miss Tammy.
Tammy: *waves* Hey Q. Good to have you here.
Quincy: Thanks. I’m glad to be here.
Frank: Over there is Evie and next to you is Razari.
Quincy: Nice to meet you all.
Frank: So Q, please tell me you play cards. We need some decent competition around here.
Quincy: Yeah, sure. I play a bit.
They all finish their drinks before making their way over to the card table.
