I manage to get a flight back to Britechester. Once I arrive, I stop by the house to change and then run into my friend Mo as I’m leaving campus. I invite him to come along with me. It’s a bright evening in Windenburg when we finally arrive at the bluffs. I spot Me-Me right away and make my way towards her, passing her friend/roommate Shania on the way.
Kai: I’m sorry about the other day.
Shania: It’s all good. *nods towards Mo* Who’s your friend?
Kai: Oh, that’s Maurice. Maybe you should introduce yourself.
Shania: I guess it won’t hurt to say hi.
It would be kind of cool if my friend and Me-Me’s friend hit off. Then, we could go out on double dates. I take the last few steps over to Me-Me and pull her tight into my arms. It’s only been a day, but I’ve already missed her.
Me-Me brushes her hand against my cheek.
Melisa: Hey, kaby!
Kai: *chuckles* Kaby?
Melisa: Yeah, I told you I would try to come up with a nickname. It’s a combination of Kai and baby. But, if you don’t like it –
Kai: *takes her hands* I love it!
Melisa: Good!
Kai: I wanted to talk to you about what happened yesterday.
Melisa: Yeah, I’m sorry about Shay walking in on us. I thought she’d be in class.
Kai: Not that – it’s more about what could have happened if she didn’t walk in.
Melisa: Oh
Mo sees Shania glancing over at him. He thinks she’s cute and decides to take a chance and make the first move.
Maurice: Hey, I’m Maurice, but people call me Mo.
Shania: Hi, Shania – or Shay.
Maurice: It’s nice to meet you, Shay.
Shania: Nice to meet you too, Mo.
Melisa: Are you having second thoughts about what could have happened?
Kai: No, definitely not. But, if we’re going to go there – together for the first time. I’d like for it to be special – not in a dorm room. You know?
Melisa: Yeah, I get that. I want it to be special, too.
I’m happy with our decision, that is – until she steps over, pulls me close, and we begin to kiss. Her lips are soft, she’s warm in my arms, and her hair smells like shampoo. I realize that I’d be happy with woohoo anywhere – in a dorm room, in a bush, in a tree, anywhere. Waiting is going to be hard.
The way she’s looking at me right now, I wonder if she might be thinking the same thing. Maybe it would be special, no matter where it takes place.
Melisa: I’m going for a swim.
Kai: Okay
I’d love to join her, but since I left the restaurant without eating – I’m starving. Luckily somebody had the foresight to bring a cooler with hotdogs in it. I step over to start cooking, but I’m distracted by Me-Me in her swimsuit. So yeah, this is going to be challenging in more ways than one.
I put the hotdogs on the grill and try my best to focus, but that swimsuit is on my mind. I imagine taking her home and pulling it off. But no – I’m grilling hotdogs rights now.
I change and sit near the pool with my dinner, watching Me-Me as she floats on her back. I know you really shouldn’t swim after eating, but my lady looks too good to be in that water alone. So I climb up on the diving board and do a little showing off before jumping in.
I dive in and swim over to her. I’ve never felt more connected with someone. She’s been my everything these last few days, and I can’t imagine being anywhere other than here with her right now. We kiss in the moonlit water.
