Me-Me arrives at her sister’s house in Tartosa and is greeted by the two sleep-deprived new parents and her overjoyed mother. She’s anxious to meet each of her new nieces and nephew, but she turns her attention to Lia first.
Melisa: *big hug* You did it, sis! I’m so proud of you.
Jamelia: I almost died like three times, but here I am.
Jalisa: Lia is exaggerating. She delivered these babies like a pro. *leans down over one of the babies* Didn’t she, sweet baby?
Melisa: How has it been so far?
Jamelia: A complete nightmare. We haven’t slept since they arrived. When one is asleep, the other two are crying. If mom wasn’t here, I think I would lose my mind.
Melisa: Well, I’m here to help! Do whatever you need to – sleep, eat, shower. I’m here for as long as you need me.
Lia smiles in appreciation for the offer but can’t seem to rip herself away from the babies. Me-Me walks over to give her mother a big hug.
Melisa: When did you get here?
Jalisa: I arrived yesterday, just before Lia went into labor. I’ve decided to stay and help out as much as I can.
Melisa: So everything went well?
Jalisa: Sure did! I have pictures – I can show you.
Jalisa pulls out her phone to show Me-Me pictures from the delivery of the triplets. She appreciates seeing the photos but is anxious to meet the babies. After Jalisa has gotten her fill of showing off, Me-Me walks over and lifts her nephew out of the crib.
Melisa: What did they name him?
Jalisa: This is Blaze. Stef came up with the name.
Me-Me’s heart practically melts as she looks down at him.
Melisa: Oh, Blaze, you’re the cutest little boy ever!
Me-Me is happy to cuddle and feed Blaze before placing him back in his crib. Stef walks over with one of her nieces next.
Stefan: This is little Jackie. She arrived last, after Blaze.
Me-Me holds out her arms to take Jackie into them.
Stef doesn’t immediately hand her over. Me-Me senses that the new dad may be protective of his new babies. That’s good because it means his fatherly instincts have kicked in. Eventually, he trusts Jackie to Me-Me.
Stefan: *tickles Jackie’s chin* Can you smile for your aunt?
Stef steps out of the room, leaving Me-Me, Jalisa, and Lia with the babies. All three women have full arms, hearts full of love, and smile on their faces while caring for the new additions to the family.
It’s time for Me-Me to meet the firstborn of the triplets. But Lia guides her out of the bedroom before making the introduction.
Jamelia: This is Kyra. She’s secretly my favorite.
Besides the light brown birthmark under her right eye, Kyra looks exactly like her father.
Melisa: As mothers, I don’t think we’re supposed to have favorites.
Jamelia: I know. But she’s going to be a go-getter just like you. I can feel it.
This is the sweetest thing Lia has ever said to Me-Me.
Lia tickles Kyra trying to get a smile from her. Then suddenly becomes very serious.
Jamelia: We’ll need a bigger house, won’t we?
Melisa: Afraid so, sis. But you won’t regret it.
Jamelia: Ugh – why do they have to be so cute?
Melisa: Because that helps us make the tough decisions. We look into their sweet little faces and realize we can’t disappoint them.
Me-Me can feel the shift in Lia’s attitude towards motherhood. It may be a gradual change, but Me-Me has every confidence that her sister will be an incredible mother. Lia leaves Me-Me alone with Kyra.
Melisa: *to Kyra* You don’t know it yet, but you and your brother and sister are already changing the world.
It’s such a beautiful day that it would feel like a waste if the boys and I didn’t take advantage of it. I instruct them all to grab their bikes, and we head off to the Isle of Volpe National Park in the heart of Bramblewood Forest. I promised Dray that I’d teach him how to ride his bike; now is the time. While I work with Dray, Mase, and Dub slide on their helmets and take off towards the famous snail sculpture.
Dub has heard about the Sophie the Snail sculpture but has yet to see it. He and Mase race toward the center of the rock spiral that hides the stone figure from anyone unaware of its existence. Once they get close, they park their bikes.
Wade: *to Mase* Follow me. I want to get a few pictures.
Dub leads Mase to the sculpture and pulls out his camera.
Dub takes photos of the statue along with a few selfies.
Wade: Now, us together.
Mase walks over, and he and Dub take a few more pictures in front of Sophie.
