Banks Dynasty – Day 9.4 (Part 1)

Today is a new day. I’m in a unique situation and have no choice but to deal with it. After researching, I discover that the nearest gym is at a place called the Skills Academy, so that’ll be my destination. I go to the bathroom, change into my workout gear, and brush my teeth. It’s time to get better acquainted with my new town.

The Skills Academy is a short walking distance from my house. It looks like a mini college campus, complete with an Arts Building, a Science Building, and finally, a gym. I take a moment to look around, then head up to the workout center upstairs above the gym. As I step in, I already see I’ll spend plenty of time here.

Dad was always big on lifting weights, so that’s where I start now. I do three sets of multiple arm workouts before moving on to the legs. Then, I finish it with a cardio workout on the treadmill. I can almost feel the extra rolls melt off as I increase my intensity.

But the increased speed and high incline prove to be too much. I lose my balance before I know what’s happening and hold on to the machine for dear life. It’s not a good look, and I’m glad there’s no one else in the room right now. I reset the machine at a lower intensity and complete my workout at a safer level.

Feeling sweaty but slimmer, embarrassed but accomplished – I go to the locker rooms for a shower and a change of clothes. Moments later, I leave the workout center and search for a good breakfast. Luckily, there are a few food stands on campus, but the selection is trash. I settle for a simple hamburger and sit down to eat.

After finishing my surprisingly good hamburger, I take a moment to explore the campus for a while. Had I known this Skills Academy was here, I might have delayed enrolling in college. It seems I could learn everything I need to know here. It’s something to consider in the future if college proves too much to handle.

I discover a peaceful pond with an incredible bay view near the art and science buildings. I sit down to enjoy it, thinking that maybe Brindleton Bay isn’t so bad after all. It’s still quiet and a little boring, but it’s beautiful.

As I head back across campus, looking for a close view of the nearby beach – I spot a girl sitting by herself at a chess table. She’s kinda cute, so I stop to say hello.

Wade: Uh, hi there. I hope I’m not interrupting. My name is Wade.

She looks up at me as if I am interrupting. There’s no mistaking the irritation on her face.

Violet: Violet

That’s all she says – no ‘hi,’ no ‘nice to meet you,’ nothing – just ‘Violet.’

Wade: Nice to meet you, Violet. I’m sorry to disturb your game. Maybe I’ll see you around.

She turns back to her board, and I guess that’s that. I walk away, knowing this town has to have some friendlier people.

From what I’ve seen so far, the people here may not be all that nice, but there’s no denying the beauty. I step away from the campus and onto a bluff that overlooks the beach below – already planning my next ‘5 Things to See’ video in my head.

I pull out my phone for a selfie, then realize that if I take some nice scenic pictures, I’ll finally have something nice to display in that big frame by the front door. I pull out my larger camera and start looking for good shots. As I’m taking pictures, I hear a small crowd of people talking and laughing across the way. Maybe I can enjoy the view and meet some new friends in the process. I hurry over.

I pass more scenic views, stop and snap a few pictures, and go to the crowd.

Wade: Hi there! I was hoping to see some friendly faces. I’m Wade.

Finally – some smiles and nice returned greetings. I stand there for a while, talking to Alijah, Caitlin, and  Maira, who seem genuinely happy to see me. Unfortunately, none of them live here in Brindleton Bay. All three of them are visiting from different parts of the Sim World. A little disappointed, I promise them that I’ll look them up if I’m ever in their towns. Then I head back home.
