Banks Dynasty – Day 20.4 (Part 1)

Spread the love

We wake up early the following day. Maia heads to the communal bathroom for a shower. I sit in the upstairs sitting area to wait for her. I can’t help but question the cleanliness of the communal shower, knowing how Maia and I used it last night, but she doesn’t seem to care.

I remember that my friend Luca said that he’d send me information about the wedding. I check my messages and see that although he’s getting married on Saturday, they have planned dinners and other activities leading up to the big day. I’d love to attend it all, but I’ll have to run all this by Maia. She sits down next to me.

Wade: Do you remember the guy I told you about? Luca—the one I met out west?

Maia: Yeah, in San Sequoia?

Wade: Right! Well, he invited us to his wedding on Saturday.

Maia: Oh wow! He’s getting married?

Wade: Yep, in Tartosa. But they’ve planned some other events to go along with it. There’s a pre-wedding dinner that happens tonight.

Maia: So soon?

Wade: Yeah. Do you want to go with me? We could stay here and leave for Tartosa tonight. It’s only a couple of towns away.

Maia: I’m down to attend but didn’t bring anything to wear.

Wade: Good point – I didn’t either. Let me give that some thought. Are you hungry? They’re serving breakfast downstairs.

We grab food from the breakfast buffet and sit at the table with the guy who checked us in last night. All the tables are communal, just like the bathroom. I run an idea past Maia on how to deal with the wedding.

Wade: Maybe we can purchase something to wear here or in Tartosa.

Maia: Sounds expensive

Wade: I’m willing to pay for whatever we need.

Maia: Wouldn’t we need several outfits? It just doesn’t sit well with me to purchase new stuff when I have things I could wear at home.

Wade: So you’re saying we should wear something we’ve already been seen in?

Maia: Is that a bad thing?

It is to me. Unless it’s jeans, I never wear the same thing twice. But Maia looks insulted by the idea, so I try to make it sound better.

Wade: I mean, it might be nice to wear something different, just in case –

The guy sitting with us finishes his meal and gets up as if he knows what’s coming next.

Maia: Do you know how much clothing waste harms the environment? Tons of textile waste already exist, and the dye, chemicals, and fibers from it all are polluting our waters and streams, harming animals and the Sims that make them- so that we can try to impress people we barely know.

The look on her face tells me that I’ve come close to backing myself into a corner I won’t quickly get out of if I keep pushing the issue. She’s come at me with the facts, so I know this is an argument I’m not about to win.

Wade: Let’s put a pin in it for now. Maybe we can come up with something else a little later.

We eat in silence for the rest of the meal.

I leave the B&B, with Maia behind me, hoping the weather has cleared up enough to show her around Finchwick village. Maybe I can convince her to buy something new if she sees the cute little clothing boutiques. But instead, we step out into a blizzard. It’s snowing so heavily that we can barely see anything before us. There’s no way I want to stay here any longer while the weather is like this.

Wade: You win. We’ll go home, pick Luna and Hiro up from the pet daycare, pack some clothes, and leave for Tartosa late. I have a college class that I have to attend anyway.

Maia: I like that idea.

We arrive in Brindleton Bay and pick up Luna and Hiro after first stopping by Maia’s place to grab some of her stuff to move in. The weather is only slightly better in Brindleton Bay. I’m over all of this snow. I hope that the weather in Tartosa is an improvement. Anything has to be better than this, so I can’t wait to get there.

After we get inside, one of my first tasks is to clear some of the snow on the back patio to make room for Maia’s frogs. There are more than I expected, and they take up space, but luckily, I have plenty of it out here.

We shuffle some things around in the living room and on the walls to make room for Maia’s pictures and other things. Luckily, Maia is true to her word about not having too many clothes, so fitting her stuff into my closet is easy enough. Although she went into an entire sermon about clothing waste earlier, she says nothing when she sees all the clothes I have compiled over the years. I make a mental note to pass some of it down to Mase and Dray, so she sees that I don’t discard the stuff after wearing it.

I have a term paper due, so I sit down to work on that while Maia finishes the cleanup and the process of making the place feel like home.

Now that Maia and Luna have officially moved in, the next task on Maia’s list is to train Luna to stop scratching the furniture. After a few tries, she finally succeeds. I appreciate that. I know my furniture will be safe as I leave for class.

I return home to see that Maia has also won Hiro’s heart. He barely acknowledges me as he sits smug and comfortable in Maia’s arms. And is he wearing a shirt? I can’t buy new clothes for the wedding, but she buys clothes for our pets?

Maia: How was your class?

Wade: It was good.

Maia: I’m taking Hiro upstairs for a bath.

I’ve never bathed Hiro, so I appreciate her taking the initiative. But now I’m left downstairs with Luna, who insists on jumping up on the counters and refrigerator.

Wade: I won’t argue with you on this, Luna. Get down now!

She ignores me as always.

I haven’t uploaded a new video in a day or so, so I decide to knock out two tasks in one by streaming the process of writing my college term paper with my newly purchased drone. I’m shocked as other Sims tune in, and I gain new followers. It just goes to show that Sims will watch almost anything. Maia sits at the table with me and reads a book. Before too long, I complete my term paper.

With such a big task out of the way, I turn off the drone and sit in a chair closer to Maia. I’m not feeling good about our mini-disagreement today and want to make up for it.

Wade: Let’s pack ourselves and the pets up and spend the rest of the Winter in Tartosa. We can rent a place there for a few days. And we can explore when we’re not participating in the wedding events. Sound good?

Maia: Sounds perfect!

I’m glad she agrees. I pull my computer out once again to research places to stay.
