Wallace Family – Day 1.7 (Part 1)

Reminder: This is my very first Sims 4 family, which was originally posted back in 2015. I’m in the process of moving these posts over from my Tumblr page. See more info here!

Ajay steps out of the tent and inhales the cold air deep into his lungs. He allows it to rest there a moment before exhaling. He’s happy to wake up to the sounds, sights, and scent of nature.

Other than that…the second thing he feels is a need to go and pee. It’s a lot colder than it was yesterday, and the thought of peeing in an iced-over bush doesn’t seem as appealing.

Ajay hesitates a bit too long and ends up having an accident all over himself. He’s alone, but he’s still never been so embarrassed in his life. Just the thought of him peeing himself is horrifying.

He takes a shower in the portable shower near the camp. The cold combined with the hot water from the water bag in the shower is somehow refreshing and enough to fully wake him. It does nothing to erase his embarrassment, though.

Eating cold granola from the cooler does nothing to improve his mood. The only thing that somewhat brings a smile to his face is catching more bugs.

Ajay suddenly picks up on the sensation of being watched…which isn’t unusual for him, but this is somehow different. Behind him…Brownie the Mascot Bear makes good on his or her promise to keep an eye on him.

Back in Brindleton Bay…Mina is up doing her best to make sure the twins are up, dressed, and ready to eat. It’s Winterfest, so she feels an extra pressure to get everything done as quickly as possible.

Luckily, Adwin is up in time to help her bring Opus down the stairs. Adwin tries to place Opus in his high chair, but Opus refuses to be confined. Adwin doesn’t fight it. He places Opus on the ground and allows him to eat his food there.

Adwin makes good on his promise to help Mina with the decorating. After he’s finished, Mina rewards him with a hug.

Mina: It looks beautiful! Thank you.

Adwin: *after the hug* Babe…I have something that I need to talk to you about.

Mina: I need to talk to you, too.

Adwin: You go first…

Mina: No, I want to hear what you have to say.

Adwin is happy for the opportunity to get it over with.

Adwin: Well…I got that promotion that I’ve been looking for – but it comes at a price.

Mina: A price? What do you mean?

Adwin: It’ll involve travel – lots of travel. I’ll be helping to open up new branches in Willow Creek, and …

Adwin pauses a bit too long.

Mina: And where?

Adwin: Windenburg…I’ll be spending a lot of time in Windenburg.

Mina: Oh

Mina can see why that would be a concern, but she’s not about to play into it.

Adwin: I’m so sorry, Mina. I know this’ll put a lot of pressure on you-you’ll be alone with the twins. And with you also working… *deep sigh* I feel so bad about it.

Mina takes a moment to let Adwin’s news sink in. It’s not what she expected him to say at all, but it allows her to bring up what she’s had in her mind.

Mina: It’s funny you mentioned my work…because that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I’m thinking about quitting my job and finding something I can do from home… like maybe gardening full-time and selling the produce for money.

Adwin: Really?

Mina: Yeah…I mean – it may not bring in as much as my job, but I’ll be able to stay home with the twins – so we won’t be paying for daycare full-time.

Adwin: I think it’s a good idea!

Mina: You do?

Adwin: Yeah…and maybe we can find someone to come help you out, especially when you start getting busy with the garden.

Mina: Someone like Reta? I mean…I know she’s a doula, but maybe she’ll be willing to make a little extra money on the side to come and sit with the twins from time to time.

Adwin hates that he didn’t think of that.

Adwin: Reta would be perfect!

Mina gives Adwin another hug.

Mina: See babe…there’s nothing that we can’t work out if we work together! And with all the extra money you’ll be making…we’ll be able to afford to go on more vacations!

Adwin: I should have known that you’d see the bright side of this!

Mina: *big yawn* Now that we got all of that out of the way…I think I’d better go take a nap before everyone starts arriving. Can you handle the twins for a bit?

Adwin: *confident* I can handle anything you throw at me!

Mina heads upstairs, and Adwin grabs Opus to take him to the potty.

Marvel is left to entertain himself while Adwin works on potty training Opus. Marvel is tempted by the colorful gifts and the decorations on the tree but finds that watching Bastet walk by is even more interesting.

Adwin finishes up with Opus and gets started on preparing the Winterfest dinner.
