Reminder: This is my very first Sims 4 family, which was originally posted back in 2015. I’m in the process of moving these posts over from my Tumblr page. See more info here!

Marvel and Opus seem to get along very well. Adwin does his best to keep an eye on them while he cooks, but they still manage to get into a bit of mischief when he’s not looking.
Mina discovers it when she comes back down the stairs after her nap…
Mina: Why are there bite marks on some of the gifts?
Opus looks clueless, but Marvel lays on the innocent charm.
Mina: That’s not going to work this time, Marv! You two are not allowed to touch the gifts.

Despite what she said…the twins’ cute expressions makes it hard for Mina to stay mad at them. The guests begin to arrive and the toddler chewed gifts are soon forgotten.
R.J. is the first to greet Mina.
Richard Jr.: So I see my cousin finally listened to what I tried to tell him, and now you two are doing the whole family thing! You can thank me later.
Mina has always been amused by R.J. so she doesn’t take what he says seriously.
Mina: I think he would have done well with or without your input.
Richard Jr.: Yeah right…you two might up hooked up eventually, but it probably would have been in the geriatric ward as slow as he was moving.
Mina can’t help but laugh at that. She politely excuses herself and walks over to Adwin who announces that dinner is ready.
Adwin: This is an informal dinner, so grab what you want and sit where you’d like! Enjoy and Happy Winterfest!
Mina tries to herd in Bastet and the twins while the guests move in to grab plates.

Adwin’s cousins, Liam and Kaley (Hollis’ kids) sit at the table with Adwin. Mina considers joining them but decides to leave the spaces at the table for their guests…such as Abbie, who’s standing in the middle of the room trying to decide where to sit.
Dexter introduces himself to Marvel…who’s sitting on the couch with a plate that’s bigger than he is.
Dexter: I’m your Papa Dex…not blood, but I’ve considered myself to be a part of your family for a long time now! In fact, your grandmother used to babysit me when I was your age.
Adwin and Talib greet each other in the dining area.
Adwin: *big hug* Happy Winterfest, bro! Where’s Mazeli?
Talib: She decided to stay home. She’s been sick all day – morning sickness.
Adwin: What?! Congrats! I’m finally going to be an uncle?
Talib: Yep…it seems so.

After dinner, everyone moves over to the tree to open up their Winterfest gifts. Kaley’s gift is from her brother Liam. She peeks inside and is pleased with what she sees. R.J. observes while Talib shakes his gift.
Talib: Ugh…I hate surprises. I wonder what it is.
Richard Jr.: Hopefully someone has figured out how to package up some bowling skills so you can finally give me some competition! I’m getting tired of beating your ass every week.
Talib: Very funny…
Dexter grabs a gift from his wife Abbie, he holds it and opens it carefully like it’s the most precious thing in the world. Kaley and Liam share a hug to thank each other for their gifts.

Most people would feel left out if they weren’t a part of a family get-together, but Ajay is perfectly happy spending his Winterfest alone in Granite Falls. It’s not as cold as it was earlier, but Ajay still seeks out some shelter at the Granite Falls nature center. It’s quiet and empty except for a nice collection of bugs and frogs contained in small glass enclosures. Ajay walks over to check some of them out.

Checking out the bug collection excites Ajay and inspires him to increase his own slowly growing collection. He checks out a few more of the bugs before heading outside to see how many more he can catch before calling it a night.

Ajay is amazed to find lightning bugs in the middle of winter. He wonders if they are a special species that’s learned to adapt to the Granite Falls weather. He grabs a few, then walks over to the playground nearby. He feels like a kid again gliding high in the air on one of the swings.

Mina goes upstairs and finds Abbie and Dexter near the computer.
Mina: Hi Abbie…hi Dex.
Dexter says a quick hello. Abbie has a lot more to say…
Abbie: Hey, Mina. Whose idea was it to let my grandson go out to Granite Falls alone in the middle of winter?
Mina: That was between him and Adwin. I didn’t know about it until the day he left.
Abbie: I knew a sensible woman like you had nothing to do with it. *tsk* You see this… *points at the computer screen* it’s currently around 18 degrees out there!
Mina: According to Adwin…it’s what he wanted.
Abbie: I just don’t like it. I’m going to text him to make sure he’s okay.
Mina: I’m sure he’ll be glad to hear from you, Abbie.

Mina joins Adwin downstairs to begin cleaning up. Dexter lends a hand as well. Abbie is satisfied after receiving a text back from Ajay letting her know that he’s doing just fine. After most of the clean up has been completed, Adwin begins the task of gathering the twins and putting them to bed.
Ajay is more than just ‘fine’. He’s perfectly happy as he finds a beautiful spot near a waterfall to put up his tent and sleep for the night. He plans on waking up and exploring the forest a lot more in the morning.
