(The Gnome) When I first saw Jalisa standing there in full costume, I almost wanted to back out of this thing. How can I actually date someone without seeing them? But, I didn’t back down. I put one foot in front of the other and jogged right up to her!
Gnome: *nervous* Hi…I’m Andrew Batts. I’m glad to finally meet you…although I can’t see you. But I’m glad.
Voidcritter: I’m Jalisa Wells, and I’m glad to finally meet you too!
Gnome: So…how’s your day so far?
Voidcritter: Better…now that you’re here.
(The Knight) There she there was, a queen in her castle and I’m the lowly knight hoping to make her acquaintance and earn a piece of her heart. I tried to have some confidence and swag as I walked up, but my knees were shaking something awful. I’m sure she could hear the metal clanking together from way up the block.
Knight: *double point* I’m Merlin Brown, a.k.a. the knight. I hope to brighten your day today!
Voidcritter: *laughs and introduces herself* I’m sure you will.
Knight: On a serious note…I feel honored to’ve been chosen to be here. Thank you for the opportunity.
Voidcritter: You’re welcome. I look forward to getting to know you!
(The Yeti) It’s too damn hot for this! There, I said it. Why couldn’t this thing have taken place in the wintertime? We’re all guaranteed to lose at least 10 pounds before this challenge is over. Did I mention that it’s hot and it’s hard to freaking see in this costume? I loved Jalisa’s voice, though. It reminded me of the 1st Movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata…calm and beautiful.
Yeti: It’s hot as hell in this thing.
Voidcritter: Mine’s is hot too. But what’s your name?
Yeti: Oh, Esteban…Esteban Walker.
Voidcritter: I’m Jalisa –
Yeti: *fills in* Wells…yeah, I know. I’ve done my homework. Do you mind if I go inside now? I’m feeling faint. Nice to meet you, though.
Voidcritter: Sure…nice to meet you too!
(The Panda) I was drenched in a gallon of sweat. The costume was hot, and I was nervous as heck, but all I could do was hope that I was about to meet my dream come true.
Panda: Hey there! I’m Panda…I mean Pander…uh Angus Pander. I enjoy the simple things and I look forward to getting to know you.
Voidcritter: Hi Angus…I look forward to getting to know you too. I’m Jalisa Wells.
Panda: Please tell me you’re as nervous as I am.
Voidcritter: I can almost guarantee you that I am…maybe more.
Panda: *sigh of relief* At least it’s not just me.
Voidcritter: Maybe we can get through it together.
Panda: *big smile hidden by costume* We’re here, actually doing this…so the possibilities are endless.
(The Bear) I wasn’t sure what to say to her, I mean…I had all these things planned out beforehand. But as I was walking up, I couldn’t remember any of it…so I just hugged her. A big bear hug!
Bear: *big hug*
Voidcritter: *surprised* Okaay…
Bear: I’m sorry, I hope that didn’t creep you out.
Voidcritter: Actually, it was kind of nice. I’m Jalisa Wells…
Bear: I’m Thomas Collins. I’m glad to meet you.
(The Voidcritter) So, first impressions on the first five guys…let’s see. The Gnome seemed to have a sweet little personality. I could hear the nerves in his voice. I don’t hold that against him…I’m sure he could hear a bit of it in mine too. The Knight was funny. He really got into character. I just hope to get to know the real him…not the costumed version of him. Now the Yeti *shakes head*, the first thing he does is complain about the heat. I get it, but is that really how you make a first impression? At least he seems to keep it real *chuckles*. I could tell the Panda was nervous at first, but after admitting it…he seemed a lot more at ease. There was even a hint of confidence in there. I like that. Watching the Bear walk up scared the crap out of me. That costume looks way too real, but he had a gentle voice and gave me a big hug. Not a bad way to start the day. I can’t wait to meet the last 4 guys…
