Peri and Waddell arrive at one of Windenburg’s hottest nightclubs. Waddell is now an elder after celebrating his birthday recently. The club is not exactly where he would have chosen to spend his time tonight, but he doesn’t mind having an opportunity to show Peri off any chance he gets. However, he still has a few reservations…
Waddell: I’m feeling like the creepy old guy that always shows up at the club to stalk all the young ladies. Everyone here is half my age.
Prosperity: But you’re with me, and you’re too fine to be creepy.
Waddell: Have I told you that I love the new hair?
Prosperity: About a thousand times.
Waddell: Well, here’s a thousand and one – you look gorgeous.
Prosperity: *pulls Waddell into a hug* Thank you, babe.
Waddell and Peri each grab a drink.
Peri spots a bubble blower.
Prosperity: Now, that’s something that I never got into.
Waddell: There’s probably a good reason.
Prosperity: Come on – it’s legal. What can go wrong?
Waddell: *chuckles* I’m way too old to be giving in to peer pressure, you know.
Prosperity: It’s not peer pressure at our age.
Peri walks over to the bubble blowers, and Waddell follows. They sit down, and Peri picks a flavor – Passion Fruit Potion.
Prosperity: *grabs a nozzle and inhales deeply* I don’t feel anything.
Waddell: If my students saw me right now, I’d never live it down. *grabs a nozzle*
Prosperity: Even teachers deserve to unwind from time to time, right?
Despite his prior protests, Waddell handles the nozzle like a pro.
Prosperity: *impressed* Okay, Mr. Washington! You’re not new to this at all.
Waddell: Never said I was. I was a college student once, you know.
Prosperity: Well, you did a lot more than me. All I did was study in college.
Peri tries a few more times before she and Waddell walk over to listen to the DJ. Unfortunately, Peri soon learns that Passion Fruit Potion doesn’t do what she thought it would.
Prosperity: What the hell? Is my hand red?
Sure that it’s just the red tint of the club lighting, Peri ignores it for now. It’s almost time for the New year’s countdown. Most of the people in the club gather near the large TV on the wall.
The crowd counts down the New Year.
Club Crowd: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3,2 – 1! Happy New Year!
Peri can tell that the red tint to her skin is not just her imagination after other clubbers began to stare and whisper. She isn’t exactly prone to embarrassment, but walking around with a bright red skin tone isn’t a good look.
Prosperity: Can we go somewhere a bit more – isolated?
Waddell finally notices why Peri wants to get away from the crowd.
Waddell: Is that from the bubble blower?
Prosperity: I think so. I won’t be messing around with one of those again.
They take a seat.
Waddell: Well, red is my favorite color, and you wear it well. You’re still gorgeous.
Peri thanks him with a kiss.
Waddell: *after the kiss* So, I’ve been thinking.
Prosperity: Okay, what’s on your mind?
Waddell: After I aged up, I wondered if you really wanted to keep spending your time with an old dude.
Prosperity: I don’t care about our age difference.
Waddell: But that, combined with the infertility-
Prosperity: I thought we were beyond all of that. Are you breaking up with me?
Waddell: That’s the thing; we never really defined what we are. Are we together?
Peri has an idea why Waddell is questioning things. She’s been content with being single for so long that she hasn’t let him in as much as she probably should have. So this conversation is long overdue.
Peri pauses to throw a hand full of confetti in the air to lighten the mood a bit and makes a decision about her and Waddell’s relationship.
Prosperity: I’m not seeing anyone else.
Waddell: Me either, and I don’t want to. I just—
Prosperity: *teasing* Then you’re not getting rid of me that easy old man. So, please stop trying to give me an out.
Waddell: *chuckles* Well, let’s make it official.
Peri likes the sound of that, so she gets up, takes a moment to pour two drinks, and places one in Waddell’s hand.
Waddell: Prosperity Banks, I’d love for you to be my lady.
Peri holds up her glass.
Prosperity: I already am, but now we both know that.
Waddell: *chuckles* Now I’m a happy old man.
Peri smiles at that. Waddell has one last request.
Waddell: But baby, can we please go somewhere quieter? All this loud music is too much.
Peri pulls him close and responds in his ear.
Prosperity: Sure. Your place or mine?
They decide on his place, but they take a quick selfie to commemorate the moment before they leave. (After Peri’s skin turns back to its normal tone, of course.)
