When I wake up, the first person on my mind is Me-Me, and the second thing on my mind is my dirty laundry, which I can smell from across the room. Thinking about Me-Me puts a smile on my face and makes me wish she was here with me right now. But then, any romantic feelings quickly dissipate because my room smells like dirty socks. Nothing flirty about that. I grab my laundry bag, fill it and head downstairs.

(Kai’s Aspiration: changed from Renaissance Sim to  Soulmate)

Doing laundry is not a popular task among my roommates because all the machines are empty, just like they are every other day. I toss my dirty stuff in, then grab something quick for breakfast.

I finish my food and turn to see an unfamiliar face.

Kai: Hey, what’s up?

Loke walks in on time to make the introduction.

Loke: Kai – this is our new roommate, Daquan.

I wave but can’t hide the confusion on my face.

Kai: New roommate? I thought the house was full.

Loke: It was, but Arthur moved out.

Kai: Oh. Well, nice to meet you.

Daquan: Good to meet you, too.

We talk for a bit, but the whole time I’m wondering how Daquan ended up here, and my friend Mo didn’t.

Daquan: So what’s it like leaving here vs. the dorms?

Kai: Have you lived in the dorms?

Daquan: No, this will be my first term here.

Kai: I couldn’t tell you, but I’d imagine that we have more freedom here. But, it sometimes takes a bit longer to get to class. So, I’d recommend having a bike.

Daquan: Good advice, thanks!

I turn to move my laundry over to the dryer. Daquan seems pretty cool, but still,  I’m wondering how he was able to pass up Mo when it came to being placed here in the house instead of the dorms. It might be worth checking into at the housing office.

It’s my first weekend of freedom from classes, so  I decide to see what’s happening around campus. Luckily, I run into Mo right outside of the student center.

Kai: I just got a new roommate. I’m a bit disappointed that it isn’t you.

Maurice: I’m on the waiting list. Maybe an opportunity will come up.

Kai: We should check with housing to see if they can bump you up on the waiting list.

Maurice: Yeah, you never know what’ll come of it.

There are flyers around the student center announcing a School Spirit Day celebration in the courtyard. I go and check it out. Me-Me’s roommate, Shania, is there. So I walk over to say hello.

Kai: Hey Shay! Have you seen Me-Me?

Shania: She’s heading to the library to finish up a research paper, but she told me to tell you that she’s already trying to think of what she’ll wear to your mom’s party tonight.

Kai: Thanks. So, what do you think of my friend, Mo?

Shania: He’s cool.

Her words don’t match the dreamy expression that settles on her face just from the mention of his name. It’s even more apparent that she likes him when he walks over a few moments later.

Kai: We should all go and hang out sometime.

Mo greets Shay, and she says hello back.

Kai: I was telling Shay that we should all go out sometime.

Maurice: That’ll be cool. *to Shay* Hey, I found that website that I told you about last night.

Shania: Oh, good. Could you show me?

Mo pulls out his phone, and suddenly I’m feeling like a third wheel. So I entertain myself with a soccer ball that happens to be there on the ground.  I realize that I haven’t touched a soccer ball in years, but I haven’t lost my skill.

My roommate Loke seems impressed as he watches me dribble the ball.

Loke: You should be on the soccer team, dude.

Kai: I’m not that good.

Loke: Have you seen our soccer team play? They suck. You’d be an all-star.

I appreciate the sentiment, but I’d never have any time for a social life with my classes and team practices. So I put the soccer ball down in exchange for a ping pong ball.

After a few rounds of juice pong, which I win, I realize that it’s almost time to get ready for my mom’s party.

Lobster Larry distracts me for a bit longer, then gives me a Foxbury cap. I never thought I looked very good in hats, but I take it and head back home to get ready to meet Me-Me and go to the party.
