Banks Dynasty Legacies Banks Dynasty – Day 27.5 (Part 1)

Spread the love

Marvel leaves early the next morning to pack, inform his landlord, and get his stuff ready for the move. Meanwhile, I meet Juanita outside to be introduced to the newest member of our family. Sleeping on a pad next to Finesse is a beautiful chestnut colored stallion.

Tambara: You found Finesse a boyfriend!

Juanita: Yes, Miss Tami. His name is Legendary, unless you want to change it, of course.

Tambara: No. Finesse and Legendary… it’s perfect.

Juanita: His specialty is jumping.

I reach out and rub his nose.

Tambara: Legendary, you are gorgeous. Finesse is going to fall deeply in love with you.

Juanita: Is that a ring on your finger, Miss Tami?

I proudly hold my hand up so Juanita can get a good look at it.

Tambara: Marvel proposed last night, and I said yes. He’ll be moving in tomorrow.

Juanita smiles and studies the ring.

Juanita: Isn’t that the bee’s knees? Congrats, Miss Tami.

Tambara: Thank you!

I pause and take a good look at my two horses.

Tambara: So how do we get them to breed?

Juanita: They seem to like one another, so that shouldn’t be too hard. I used to help my last boss breed his horses all the time. I can get started now if you like.

Tambara: Do it. If Finesse is getting older, I don’t want her to miss her chance.

I turn my back to give Finesse and Legendary some privacy while Juanita goes to work getting the two horses in the mood. I blush a little because it makes me think about how Marvel and I celebrated our engagement last night.

After the deed is done, Juanita pulls Legendary away.

Juanita: We’ll know if we were successful in a day or so.

Tambara: Thanks, Juanita.

With the breeding business out of the way, it’s time to see what Legendary can do. I saddle him up and mount him, before guiding him out the gate to the jumping posts.

Working with Legend is a dream. He responds to my guidance as if he were born to do it. Maybe he was bred with the temperament to be easy to train. He’s not stubborn like Finesse could be when I first started training with her. Hopefully their foal will be more like him. Juanita just might have earned herself a bonus for her work in choosing him.

We take a few more jumps before we ride back to the paddock. My phone rings, and I see that it’s Daddy. I haven’t told him the news yet, so I answer right away.

But the call doesn’t go the way I envisioned. Daddy starts in immediately, and he doesn’t sound very happy.

Wade: *on the phone* Your mom texted me and told me that you’re engaged. I didn’t even know you were dating. I want to meet this guy tonight.

Daddy’s tone reminds me of how he insisted on meeting Enzo before he’d allow us to attend prom together. But I’m a grown woman now. He cannot simply demand anything. I’m ready to fight back this time.

Tambara: *on the phone* You have some nerve. I haven’t even met the woman you’re dating.

His tone softens slightly.

Wade: Yeah, well, we can solve two problems at once… tonight. Five pm.

Tambara: I don’t even know if Marvel is available tonight.

Wade: What kind of name is—

Daddy pauses and chuckles to himself.

Wade: Unless I meet him, you better not even think about asking me to pay for a wedding. Make him available.

I’m perfectly capable of paying for my own wedding, but when I calculate it in my head, I’d prefer not to.

Tambara: Okay, but you’d better not try to pull that stuff you pulled with Enzo.

Wade: I’ll do what I do. Just get here.

We end the call, and I stand there fuming. How dare Daddy continue to try to run my life!

Dub didn’t mean to let his anger get to him, but the thought of his daughter marrying some guy he has never laid eyes on infuriates him. He always thought he and Tami were close. How could she be dating and not tell him? And if the situation is anything like that guy she flew out from Tomarang, he’s going to be ready for war.

But just as his anger reaches its peak, he realizes that he has basically been hiding things from Tami too. She wasn’t wrong to bring up the fact that she hasn’t met Kalani yet. But that’s just the start of what Tami doesn’t know.

Now that he has invited Tami and her fiancé to dinner, he gets up and steps outside to let Kalani know.

Kalani is in the gym at the Man Cave, running on the treadmill. Feeling like a very lucky man, Wade pauses and watches her backside bounce to the rhythm of her steps before he interrupts.

Wade: Babe, I have something to tell you.

Kalani stops the machine and turns to him.

Kalani: Everything okay?

Wade: Yes. I just wanted to let you know, I invited my daughter and her fiancé over for dinner tonight.

The way he says the word fiancé lets Kalani know that he’s not too happy about his daughter being engaged.

Kalani: Well, I’m glad I’ll finally get to meet her.

Dub suddenly grabs his head as if he has a headache.

Kalani doesn’t have to ask because she knows exactly what’s wrong with him. She narrows her eyes at him.

Kalani: You didn’t tell her I moved in, did you?

Wade: No, I never got around to it.

Kalani lets out a sigh.

Kalani: That’s okay, I guess. She’ll find out soon enough. Should I cook?

Wade has had Kalani’s cooking more times than he can count. He needs to keep her far away from any raw food.

Wade: No, babe. Leave that up to me. I’ll just put a couple slabs of ribs on the grill.

Kalani: When do they get here?

Wade: I told her to be here at 5.

Kalani looks at the clock and sees that it’s a little after 2.

Kalani: Okay, I’d better go upstairs and get ready. I’m excited to finally meet your daughter.

Wade watches Kalani leave, wishing he felt that same excitement. Who knows how Tami will react to Kalani.

But then he remembers that he has his own reacting to do, because Tami is bringing some guy over who thinks he’s going to marry her. His friend Luca had the right idea when he went through something similar with his daughter. Dub slips on some boxing gloves and lets it all out on the heavy bag, just like Luca did a few weeks ago.

Wade:*in his boxing stance* So, you think you’re going to marry my daughter.

He punches the bag hard.

Wade: I may be old, but I’m still in great shape, punk.

Punch

Wade: I bet you’ve already woohooed, haven’t you?

Punch, punch

Wade: Well, take that, that, and that…

Dub releases a few quick punches, aimed at the face, chest, and where a sim’s groin would be.

Wade: We’ll see how much of a “marvel” you are after your face meets my gloves.

Dub gives the bag one final punch, and immediately feels a tweak in his back. Reminded of his age, he knows he’d better stop while he’s ahead if he wants to be able to stand tall without pain and look intimidating.

An hour later, Kalani steps out of the bathroom dressed and ready for tonight. Dub has changed his clothes as well, both of them deciding to keep it casual to help everyone feel relaxed tonight.

Kalani: Do you think Tami will like me?

Dub hasn’t been shy about letting Kalani know how tough his daughter can be. He steps over and pulls Kalani into his arms, brushing a gentle kiss against her neck.

Wade: She’ll fall in love with you as much as I did.

Kalani, immediately becoming flirty, giggles and pushes him away gently.

Kalani: Don’t start something you can’t finish.

Wade: I can finish plenty.

Kalani:*insists* We don’t have time. We need to get the house ready.

Dub knows she’s right, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pick up where they left off tonight. He smiles at the possibilities.
