Ajay is awakened way too early in the morning by a strange crying sound at the end of the bed. He looks over and sees Marvel, or is it Opus, standing there.
Adwin-Jamie: What do you want?
Opus: I haffa go pee pee.
Adwin-Jamie: Then go pee!
Opus: I scared.
Adwin-Jamie: Scared of what?! Scared to pee?
Ajay lays back on the bed, and stares at the ceiling, hoping Opus will just go away so he can go back to sleep. Opus begins to whine softly.
Ajay wants to ignore Opus…or better yet, to send him to go wake his dad or Mina. But…he remembers what it’s like to be little and scared.
Ajay lets out a deep sigh and slowly raises himself to a sitting position. He didn’t realize how tired his trip made him until just now.
Adwin-Jamie: *stands up* Okay…let’s take you to go pee.
Ajay walks over, picks Opus up and carries him to the bathroom.
Ajay stands Opus up in front of the baby potty.
Adwin-Jamie: Okay…pee so I can go back to sleep!
Opus looks up at Ajay confused.
Adwin-Jamie: You do know what to do, right? Just stand by the potty and – *pauses and thinks about it* Well…I guess you’re too little to stand there and hold it. Um…just sit down then.
Opus walks over and sits down on the potty.
Adwin-Jamie: Yeah…like that. Now pee!
Opus sits and sits, but nothing happens. Ajay quickly realizes that taking a toddler to the potty is not as simple as them just sitting down and peeing.
It takes 40 minutes for Opus to finally pee and unexpectedly poop. Ajay is so relieved that Opus is finally done…that he’s genuinely happy for him.
Adwin-Jamie: Nice job! You finally did it!
Opus: *proud of himself* I did it!
Opus does a little dance, then holds out his arms towards Ajay.
Adwin-Jamie: What? What do you want now?
Opus: Pee pee hug.
Adwin-Jamie: Pee pee what?!
Ajay guesses that a hug is a reward that Mina and his dad give to Marvel and Opus for successfully peeing in the potty. It’s weird, but Ajay kneels down and allows Opus to hug him. He reluctantly wraps his arms around the small boy in return and discovers that it’s kind of a reward for him too.
Opus finally shows signs of being tired. He begins to yawn, so Ajay takes it as a cue to get him back in bed. Ajay tucks him in and watches until his little eyes close.
As tired as he is…Ajay can tell that if he tries to go to bed now – he’ll just end up tossing and turning. He spends some time cleaning out the sink and putting a load of very smelly, dirty clothes into the washing machine. After he’s finished…he too is finally ready for bed.
Mina and Adwin wake up; excited about celebrating the New Year. Mina heads downstairs to pull out some New Year decorations. What she discovers is a big mess in the laundry room. Water is spewing out of the broken washing machine.
Adwin goes downstairs, cleans the kitchen and grabs something to eat. After calling a repair person, Mina joins him…hoping to get a chance to enjoy a quiet breakfast while the twins are still sleeping.
Mina gets the quiet breakfast that she hoped for, but it doesn’t last long. Within moments, Marv and Op are up; also ready to eat. Adwin helps to bring them down and get them fed.
