Wallace Family – Day 11.7 (Part 1)

Reminder: This is my very first Sims 4 family, which was originally posted starting in 2015. I’m in the process of moving these posts over from my Tumblr page. See more info here!

The boys have enjoyed camping out for the night on Ajay’s lot. But the next morning, Ajay leaves the boys to their own devices for a bit too long as he sleeps in.

Eventually, Ajay wakes up and crawls out of the tent. Marvel is sitting there waiting for him.

Marvel: Where can we go pee?

Adwin-Jamie: I showed you where the restrooms were last night.

Marvel: But what if I don’t want to walk all the way down there?!

Adwin-Jamie: Go pee in the bush then.

Marvel: I did that yesterday, but it got all over my shoes.

Adwin-Jamie: It’s either that or the restrooms on the boardwalk…or you can hold it until it’s time for you to go home.  I don’t know what else to tell you. *looks around* Where’s Opus?

Marvel: *shrugs* I don’t know.

Ajay walks over to the grill to make baked potatoes for breakfast; completely unaware that Opus is occupying himself with paint over near the sink.

Mina and Adwin arrive to pick up Marvel and Opus just as it starts raining. Mina is upset that the rain will ruin their plans.

Mina: I can’t believe this. I didn’t see any rain in the forecast!

Adwin-Jamie: *to Adwin* I made baked potatoes. Are you hungry?

Adwin: Uh…no – thanks. I’m not really in the habit of eating food that’s been soaked in the rain.

Adwin and Ajay sit down at the table.

Marvel: *excited* It’s good, daddy! The middle of my potato is like a swimming pool!

Adwin-Jamie: You two didn’t have to come. I could have walked them home.

Adwin: We came because it’s Ancestor Day…and we’re on our way to Newcrest to pay our respects to your grandparents. I wanted to know if you’d come too.

Adwin-Jamie: Uh…yeah. Sure. I don’t have anything else to do.

The family arrives at Peaceful Meadows Cemetery about 20 minutes later. Adwin falls into a somber mood as they walk up to the gate of the cemetery.

Opus: *notices Adwin’s mood* You okay daddy?

Adwin: Yeah…I’m okay. I just haven’t been here in a long time.

Adwin feels bad that he hasn’t been back to see his parents since the day he buried them. And on that day, his visit was cut short because Carla went into labor. **

They all enter the cemetery and Adwin leads them to his parents’ grave.

Adwin: Guys…this is where my mother and father – your grandparents are buried.

(**Link takes you to Tumblr)

Adwin: *continues* My mom was named Teresa…and my dad was named Jamison, but everyone called him Jamie. *to Ajay* You were partially named after him.

Ajay already knows all of this, but his dad seems to be in a very nostalgic mood, so he listens anyway.

Adwin: My dad was a singer, piano player, and guitarist. He was fairly famous by the time he passed away. My mom was an artist. She painted this huge mural in our penthouse –

Opus: Daddy…what’s a penthouse?

Adwin: A house that’s on the top floor of a building. We had an incredible view! It was amazing. My mom and dad had to work their asses off so we could afford it.

Marvel: Ooooohhh daddy…you said a bad word! *turns to Mina* Daddy said a bad word!

Adwin: Sorry

Mina: Be quiet and listen, Marv!

Adwin: *emotional* They would have loved you all. My mom wanted to be a grandmother so bad! And Mina…she would have absolutely adored you. You two would have been the best of friends.

Mina: Sounds like they were incredible, babe.

Part of the Ancestor Day tradition is to give flowers to loved ones. Ajay does a lot of flower picking, so he pulls out a daisy and gives it to his father.

Adwin-Jamie: Maybe you can put it on their grave or something.

Adwin: Thank you son…this means a lot.

Adwin-Jamie: Uh…I’d better go.

Adwin gives Ajay a hug.

Adwin: Thanks for coming and listening to me ramble on.

Ajay leaves Adwin, Mina and his brothers there at the cemetery and decides to explore Newcrest for a while; hoping to discover a new fishing spot. He heads to Founder’s Park first, but there’s no fishing spot there. He picks a few flowers, then sets off across the street to another area of town.

It doesn’t take long for Ajay to find Newcrest Lake, which is pretty much in the middle of town. He pulls out his pole and settles in for a relaxing day of fishing…although the rain is still coming down around him.

Ajay gets a couple of good catches before he gets a text from Gretchen. He has agreed to allow her to write a book about him. She texts him to ask for a new meeting spot…somewhere out of the rain. Ajay texts her back agreeing to meet her at the Deadgrass Cafe at 7pm.
