I get up early to prepare a cake for Mase’s birthday. Me-Me has to be at work, and Dub has school today, so we want to get the celebrations out of the way early. We light the candles on the cake and wait for Mase to come downstairs. Meanwhile, ma uses this opportunity to bond with baby Dray.
Mase finally wakes and comes downstairs. I lift him and show him how to blow out the candles on his cake. Then he ages up!

Birthday cake is today’s breakfast. So, we all sit down at the table to enjoy a slice.
Prosperity: *to Mase* Since you don’t start school yet, I was hoping you’d like to visit the Art Center with me today.
Mason: Okay
Dub gets up from the table.
Wade: *whiny tone* I wanna come, too!
Ma gets up to let him down easily.
Prosperity: I’m so sorry, Wade, but you have school. You’ll have to come with me another time. Okay?
Wade: *disappointed* Okay
It’s time to give Mase his gift. Me-Me holds out a big blue box with his name on it.
Melisa: This is for you!
Mase’s eyes light up just from seeing the box, so I know he’ll be pleased with what’s inside. Then, as predicted, he opens the box and is very happy with the special toy inside.
Mason: Thank you, mommy!
Melisa: It’s from all of us.
Mase takes the time to walk over and thank us all while Dub prepares to leave for school. Then, finally, Mase walks over to ma.
Mason: Are we leaving now, or do I have time to help outside first?
Prosperity: We’ll leave in about an hour. I’ll come and get you when it’s time.
Me-Me’s work hours allow her enough time to work on her fix-it bot before leaving. So she gets started while I spend time cleaning Cocoa Puff’s stable. Meanwhile, Mase takes advantage of the fact that he’s now old enough to help with the farm animals. He helps keep Cocoa Puffs calm, allowing me uninterrupted time to finish my work.
The stable is clean, and Me-Me’s bot is complete. It’s been a very productive morning so far.
Mase continues bonding with Cocoa P, and Me-Me squeezes one more task into the last few minutes before she has to leave. After cleaning the cow’s coat, Mase moves to the chicken coop to help out there.
I’m impressed by how well Mase has been paying attention to all the tasks I complete when caring for the chickens. He spreads fresh feed for them, then carefully removes the eggs laid in the early morning hours. He even checks the eggs for fertilization.
I continue to observe Mase as he works. I don’t know if he’ll want to make farming a career, but I don’t doubt that he’d be a natural at it.
After Mase has finished his work with the chickens, ma comes outside and walks over to him.
Prosperity: Are you ready to go to the art center?
Mason: I’m ready!
Prosperity: Good
Ma pulls out her phone and calls up a ride share.
