Living off the grid doesn’t mean that Ajay won’t be using the public toilet on the boardwalk from time to time. Sometimes a bush just won’t do.

The first day of Spring is probably the best time to start a garden, so Ajay plants a few seeds right away. He starts out simple but looks forward to the day when he’s using all three of his garden planters.

Ajay doesn’t plan on just living on his lot alone. He cleans up his lot a bit before welcoming a new companion…a German Shepard puppy named Cain.

Cain has a lot of eating and growing to do, so Ajay fills up two food bowls for him. While the two of them get acquainted, Adwin makes his way over to see where Ajay will be living.
Adwin is almost speechless when he sees that Ajay will be living in a tent, surrounded by secondhand furniture.
Adwin: So…this is the plan? To live like a homeless man?

Adwin-Jamie: Why do I have to have a plan? Why can’t I just live?
Adwin: Well…people typically make a plan so they don’t have to live like this. Son, we have a perfectly nice house up the hill. Why leave all of that to live in a tent?
Adwin-Jamie: Because I want to! I like being outdoors…there are no walls trapping me in here.
Adwin: Yeah, but walls keep you safe…and dry and warm for God’s sake.
Adwin-Jamie: How much are your walls costing you, dad? Here…I have very few expenses and I can come and go as I please. Can’t you just accept the fact that I’m happy here?

Adwin realizes that his walls are costing him a lot…a whole lot – including time with his family. He turns to walks over to one of Ajay’s chairs.
Adwin: *looks down at Ajay’s new puppy* Cute dog
Adwin-Jamie: Thanks…his name is Cain.
Adwin sits down to tell Ajay what he actually came here to say.
Adwin: I have to leave town for a few days for work. I’ll be in Windenburg and I need you to keep an eye on Mina and the twins. You know – just make sure they’re safe.
Adwin-Jamie: Yeah sure. I can do that.
Adwin: Thanks son *deep sigh*

Ajay picks up a sense of sadness in his dad’s tone.
Adwin-Jamie: You okay?
Adwin: *shakes his head slightly* I’m going to miss Marvel and Opus’ birthday. I don’t think Mina is too happy about that. And I don’t blame her…I’m not happy about it either.
Adwin-Jamie: Oh…maybe you can make up for it in some way. Maybe do something special when you get back.
Adwin: I can do that, but it’ll mean a lot to me if you could be there for them…to help them celebrate.
Adwin-Jamie: *hesitation* I don’t know…you know I don’t do well with parties.
Adwin: It doesn’t have to be a party. But…maybe you can take them to the park – or out for ice cream. I don’t know…anything to take their minds off the fact that their own dad is away for their birthday. It’ll help Mina out too.

Ajay can see the desperation in his father’s face, so he agrees…
Adwin-Jamie: Maybe I can teach them how to fish or something.
Adwin: Thanks, Ajay. I think they’ll like that. *gets up to leave* I’d better go…I have to go pack for my trip.
Ajay stops him…
Adwin-Jamie: Dad?
Adwin: Yes?
Adwin-Jamie: Now can you see why I choose to live this way?
Adwin can see what Ajay is getting at, but he’s not quite ready to completely go along with his lifestyle choice yet. He doesn’t want to shoot it down either. So he tries to remain open-minded.
Adwin: I can’t say that I understand it…and I don’t know that I ever will, but I’ll try and I love you no matter what. That’s the best I can give you right now. Okay? *heads home* See you later son.

Ajay runs towards the water, kicking off his sandals just before he makes it to the sand. If he hopes to be able to teach his little brothers to fish…he has to make sure he has some skill in it himself. He pulls out a fishing pole and casts his line.

The sand, the surf, the sun setting in the distance, and the birds calling from up above makes the perfect backdrop to end the day. He can’t imagine being in a more perfect location. His dad may never understand it, but Ajay feels like he’s finally found himself. The part of himself that has been lost for a long time.
Ajay catches a small fish but has no luck after that. He’ll need a lot more practice if he hopes to ever be able to catch enough fish to eat and sell to make money.

It’s getting late. Ajay picks Cain up and carries him back to the lot. He seems to be a loyal little puppy. Ajay already feels a lot of love for him.
He puts Cain in a safe spot, then walks over to the sink to wash his face and brush his teeth.

It takes Ajay a while to blow out all the candles and turn off his lanterns. After all the lights are off, he walks over to his tent and pulls out the air mattress. It’s a nice clear night, so he plans on sleeping under the stars. He crawls into bed and falls asleep without much struggle.

Meanwhile, in San Myshuno, Adwin has become an uncle. Talib and his wife Mazeli have welcomed a baby boy (that the game automatically named Srikumar O’Neal). Talib and Mazeli has decided to call him Kumar Boro-O’Neal.

Mazeli: He is amazing isn’t he?
Talib puts Kumar back into his bassinet and walks over to his wife.
Talib: He’s amazing because you are amazing! I love you so much.
Before Mazeli can respond…Talib pulls her in his arms and kisses her.
