Reminder: This is my very first Sims 4 family, which was originally posted starting in 2015. I’m in the process of moving these posts over from my Tumblr page. See more info here!

A steady rain wakes Ajay up the next morning. So much for sleeping outside. He has to pee but doesn’t feel like walking up the boardwalk so the brush will have to do.

Ajay’s day starts with brushing his teeth, getting a quick hug from Cain, and then breakfast.

Cain is getting a bit whiny. Ajay assumes it’s because of the rainy/dreary weather.

Adwin-Jamie: Don’t worry…we’ll find someplace dry to hang out today.

Ajay changes into his workout clothes and hits the heavy bag until he’s fulfilled his New Year’s resolution. He’s starting to get into the best shape of his life. He spends a few more minutes on the heavy bag.

Ajay loves his lot, but others who live in town think it’s an eyesore…a blight in an otherwise beautiful part of town. A townie grumbles to himself as he and his dog head towards the beach.

Angry Townie: I’m sure there are ordinances against this sort of thing.

Ajay and Cain decide to visit Magnolia Promenade to get some relief from the rain. Luckily it’s nice and clear there. Hoping to collect some seeds to plant in his garden, Ajay visits the community greenhouse located in the park across the street from the NOLA Inn. Unfortunately, the plants haven’t grown enough to produce seeds yet, so he’ll have to return in a week or so.

Ajay is a bit disappointed, but he picks up his puppy and comes up with another plan.

Adwin-Jamie: *to Cain* What should we do now? How about some fishing…you up for that?

Magnolia Promenade is known for its beautiful fishing spots. Ajay jogs to a nearby dock to see if it’s all just hype.

It’s definitely not hype. The view from the dock is breathtaking. Ajay pulls out his fishing pole and tries his luck at catching something.

Unfortunately, Ajay isn’t skilled enough to catch anything at the docks. His stomach is growling, so he heads back to the NOLA Inn to visit the cafe there.

Ajay orders himself a croissant and is oblivious to the female attention that he has captured.

Blue Haired Barista: Girl, don’t look now, but there’s a hottie standing right behind you.

The lady in the hat turns to get a quick peek, then turns back to her friend.

Barista in Hat: *silently mouths* He is fine af!

Blue Haired Barista: *mouths back* Told you!

Ajay doesn’t even pay attention to their whispering. he’s used to people whispering and saying what he assumes are mean things about him behind his back. He gets his croissant ‘to go’ and leaves the cafe to find a place where he can be alone.

The nearby park is the perfect spot to find some solitude. Ajay sits down on a bench under a tree and unwraps his croissant. He takes in the breeze as he slowly nibbles the pastry.

His mind wanders back to his dad’s visit yesterday. He knows that his dad feels that doing nothing but taking it day by day…sitting in a park, doing what he feels, is a waste of his life.

He recalls the weariness in Adwin’s eyes as he talked about missing the twins’ birthday because of work. Ajay wishes that his dad could see the value in the way that Ajay has chosen to live. If he did…maybe he’d see that working a job that really doesn’t mean anything is the true way to waste a life – not the other way around.

Ajay and Cain return to their lot a few hours later. The rain hasn’t let up a bit, but Ajay doesn’t really mind it. He takes a quick shower to wash off the sweat from this morning, then walks over and crawls into his tent to stay dry. He curls up on his air mattress and spends the rest of the day reading through a stack of wilderness guides that he’s collected.
