Wallace Family – Day 6.7 (Part 2)

Reminder: This is my very first Sims 4 family, which was originally posted starting in 2015. I’m in the process of moving these posts over from my Tumblr page. See more info here!

Adwin returns to his room at the Windenburg Inn after spending a long grueling day at work, trying to get the new consulting firm up and running. He can already tell that this new branch is missing the quality leadership it’ll need to be as successful as it’s big sister company. Most of Adwin’s day was spent trying to train people to do things that should be basic common sense.

Adwin turns on the television to try to fill some of the void of his big spacious room…which at the moment is feeling way too big and way too lonely. He’d give anything to be at home greeting Mina and the twins with a big kiss. Yes…home gets chaotic at times, but it’s just what he needs at the moment.

Adwin sits until he can’t stand it any longer. He decides to waste some time at the bar downstairs. He hopes to find something that occupies him long enough to wear him out. That way he’ll go to sleep right away when it’s time for bed.

Adwin was hoping that there would be more people in the bar. From where he’s standing…it looks empty and an empty bar is not the best way to kill some time. He almost turns and leaves until he sees someone very familiar standing in there alone.

It’s Carla. He can tell…even though her back is turned. He walks over. But Carla doesn’t see him. She clearly believes that she’s still alone…

Carla: *chastising herself* What the hell are you doing here? You’re just playing yourself…just leave while you’re ahead.

Adwin: *steps closer* Carla?

Adwin: *amused* Did I catch you talking to yourself?

Carla: *small embarrased chuckle* Uh…sorta.

Adwin: What are you doing here?

Carla: *hesitates* Ajay told me that you’d be in town for business. I figured you’d be staying here because it’s basically the only hotel in town.

Adwin: Oh

Carla is afraid of any awkward silences between them, so she immediately rambles on to fill it.

Carla: Yeah…and I – I just wanted to say hello and thank you for all you did in helping to arrange my mom’s funeral.

(Note: I have a feeling that Carla actually came there in this sort of mood. But maybe that’s just me – lol)

Adwin doesn’t do her any favors by responding, so she just continues with her heart beating so hard that she can practically feel it pounding in her head.

Carla: So…uh – thanks! There! I said it…now I’m hella embarrassed, so I’d better go.

Carla waits for a beat, then turns on her heels, hoping to get as far away as she can as quickly as possible.

Adwin: Wait!

Carla’s embarrassment is written all over her face, can be heard through her shaky voice and seen with her body language. Adwin doesn’t feel right letting her just walk away feeling like she’s made a fool of herself.

Adwin: I mean…you’re here now. You might as well stay for a drink.

Carla: How? That’s the first thing I tried to do when I got here…but there’s no bartender.

Adwin: Don’t need one…any idiot can handle pouring a Barley Bale, right?

Adwin walks straight towards the bar. Carla follows him, unable to resist seeing ‘always by the books’ Adwin breaking rules. Adwin steps behind the bar and pulls out a bottle.

Carla: *laughs* You’re crazy! They catch you back there and they’re going to throw you out…no refunds!

Adwin: *pours a glass for Carla and then one for himself* I’ll still pay for it. I’ll even leave a tip. When’s the last time you saw someone get mad while holding a big tip in their hand?

Carla: Never

Adwin: Exactly!

Adwin hands Carla her drink. She takes it and sits down on one of the bar stools. She’s shocked to see Adwin downing his drink in big sips.

Carla: Wait…I didn’t think you even drank.

Carla: *laughs* You’re crazy! They catch you back there and they’re going to throw you out…no refunds!

Carla waits for Adwin to stop using his drink as an excuse not to respond, but he doesn’t.

Carla: Adwin? Don’t you think I might be right?

Adwin: If you believe that, then you’re just as crazy as he is.

Adwin regrets his words as soon as they are out of his mouth, especially after he recalls what Carla told him about the serious depression she suffered through after she gave birth to Ajay.

Adwin: Oh Gawd…I’m so sorry. It was just a figure of speech. I didn’t mean to imply that –

Carla: You think our son is crazy?

Adwin: *shakes his head vigorously* No…I don’t and I don’t think that you’re – that was just frustration talking. I swear!

Carla: I know…it’s okay.

This is definitely not the first time Adwin has said the completely wrong thing to Carla.** He quickly acknowledges that.

Adwin: I’m an idiot, but you already know that.

Carla: *sincere, forgiving tone* Really…it’s okay Adwin.

Despite Carla’s willingness to forgive, Adwin still can’t get past the taste of a dirty foot in his mouth, so he hopes to cure it with distraction.

Adwin: Hey…you up for some karaoke?

Adwin turns and walks towards the karaoke stage in the corner of the bar.

Carla: Yeah, sure.

Adwin and Carla grab a microphone and begin to go through the list of songs.

Adwin: You get to pick the song.

Carla: Okay

Carla looks through the list of songs and gets excited when she sees one that’s very familiar to her.

Carla: I remember singing this one with your dad that one time when he took us all to Oasis Springs!**

Adwin bends down to read the title.

Adwin: *reading* “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”…yeah, okay. I know that one!

Adwin puts the mic to his mouth and begins humming along with the intro music.

Adwin begins the song…

Adwin:  ♫You’ve got a friend in me, You’ve got a friend in me, When the road looks rough ahead – ♪

Carla: *sings the next line with a passion*  ♪ And you’re miles and miles from your nice warm bed! ♫

Adwin: ♪ You just remember what your old pal said… ♫

Carla: ♫ Boy you’ve got a friend in me!  ♪

Carla and Adwin: *singing together* ♪ Yeah you’ve got a friend in me ♫

(Song – “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” – Randy Newman/Toy Story Soundtrack)

Adwin and Carla reach the end of their song…

Carla:   Some other folks might be a little bit smarter than I am…Bigger and stronger too. ♬

Adwin: Maybe…

Carla: ♬ But none of them, Will ever love you the way I do…
It’s me and you boy ♩

Adwin:  ♩ And as the years go by. Our friendship will never die. You’re gonna see it’s our destiny… ♬

Carla and Adwin: *singing together*  ♩ You’ve got a friend in me,  You’ve got a friend in me,  You’ve got a friend in me!  ♬
